My alarm system on my '96 V6 mustang convertible goes off when the car is wet. It first did it when I went through a car wash. Now when it rains, it goes off for at least a few days till I guess it dries out - thank goodness we have had a drought this summer, or the car would be useless. This absolutely only happens when it's wet. I have taken the horn out so my neighbors wont shoot me. After that, I just have to disconnect the battery, or it will flash till the battery is dead. Maybe another few dry days, and I'll be able to drive it again.

I would disconnect the alarm system alltogether, but I have heard that I can't cuz it is hooked up to the fuel pump.

HELP!!

Dude just unplug it, its under the dash driver side dissconnect the whole harness to the alarm, if its a stock ford alarm it will stop bypassing all theft deterrants. Thats how they stripped my car, then i went and got a viper alarm. Water is probably shorting somthing in your alarm system like a door or hood trigger. Look at how many times the light blinks and that should tell u if it was a door/hood/trunk trigger or impact or electrical draw. Good luck

Alarm System - how do I unplug it!

Thanks for the input. It's been a dry season, and I've been unplugging various things under the drivers dash to try and figure out what to unplug. Guess if I was a car thief it would be fixed!

Can you give me a clue as to what to look for - which wire or plug, near something, some kind of reference?

Thanks,

Chris

Look for wiring around/near your power relay or ignition switch under the hood.
Also, there might be a module wired up underneath the dash somewhere. Check wires with a multimeter to tell which one is hot, so you aren't unplugging things just for the smell of it. :nice:

Thanks - still having trouble finding it this wire/module, or whatever, both under the hood, and under the dash. I've sure found everything else. I have a Haynes repair manual, but not much help.

I'm pretty sure it's the stock Ford unit. I have keyless entry, and the only way I can get it to turn off (temporarily) is to press "unlock". that turns off the flashing lights, etc., and then I can start the car (if I'm quick about it!) it's off for a bit (sometimes 2 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes, and everywhere in between) and then it's alarm time again. I'm just getting good at disconnecting the battery and hoping it dries out. Unfortunately, it's getting to be rainy around here, so I can't even drive it.

where is the lousy connector to this $*&@!* alarm system!!!!

I have some freinds who have been trying to help me find the mystery connector. I have the shop manual pages from another friend which tells me diagnostics of how to find what's shorting out, or whatever, which would be great.....EXCEPT....I CAN'T FIND THIS LOUSY CONNECTOR(s)!!!!

CAN SOMEBODY HELP!!!!
Anti theft alarm control module connector C-1 (N13328-A),

the other side of this connector

Anti theft alarm control module connector C-2 (N13329-A),

and some other connector

Anti theft alarm control module connector C-3 (N12642-A), http://forums.stangnet.com/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=10#

I COULD CARE LESS IS SOMEONE STEALS THE CAR, AS LONG AS IT DOESN"T GIVE ME FLASHING LIGHTS WHENEVER IT GETS HUMID OR WET.

PLEASE....SOMEONE HELP!!!! http://forums.stangnet.com/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=10#

Exactly where on the dash driver side is this "plug". I'd love to unplug it! The Ford dealer I took it to (and told them, fix it if you can, and disconnect it if you can't fix it!) didn't know how either. The tech says "I've never worked on this kind of system (FORD "active" alarm system rather than the "passive" alarm used later). If you (OR ANYONE) can tell me where exactly I can unplug this you-know-what...I would be eternally grateful!

When you say "ignition switch under the hood" - where exactly is that? on the firewall near.....what. I am just unplugging things for the smell of it as a process of elimination. So far, I've eliminated everything else!

Thanks for any help!!!
