Hello,

I haven't posted here yet, but have lurked a little bit. I am finally able to get my first Mustang, but have what are probably really dumb questions. I did do some rudimentary searches and if I'm just not looking, or searching, for the right keywords just point me and I'll go away and look.

My car is about to die, so I don't think I can wait the 3-4 months to order a car. I will be out shopping for a car in the next week or three at the max. So I will probably be confined to a car on the lot. So, finally, here are my questions.

Can anyone by from fleet ? is that going to be the best way to not pay MSRP or thousands more ? I just spent the last hour on the ford site and within in next 50 or so miles there are few GT's with the 5-spd man trans.... is there any of the dealers that aren't out to screw Mustang fans ? I've seen more than once that Board Ford and Ken Grody are really bad (of course they are close to me). How is San Juan Capo or Santa Margarita Ford dealers?? I will drive if I have to but I don't want to have to drive my current car an inordinate distance...

Who's leg ya gotta hump to get a ?-plan pricing ??
Since almost ALL the GT's on the lots will have the spoiler will the CDC ducktail work or am I still gonna have massive holes in the trunk lid.
If it has a Shaker radio, can an aftermarket (kenwood..etc) be installed in it's place with the stock speakers and amp (Kenwood has an ipod hookup that I deperately want to add).
is it save to have the deal do the eibach spring kit ? or is there a good so cal shop to do this.... and the black-out between the lights ??

OK. that's it for now. I would like to add a quick thanks to all the posters here. Besides the sheer automotive poetry that the s197 is you all have really made my mind up that this IS the car for me. I can't wait to start posting pics and something of value here. Right now it's the waiting that sucks.

good questions

Those are good questions. I dont have answers to most so hopefully others will jump in.
I think plan pricing depends on if you know someone who works for ford or if you work for a company that does business with ford. There's a list someplace of companys that can get x-plan. Thing is dealerships dont have to honor it.

I assume you want a GT as you said you searched for them within 50 miles...
I'll tell you what I know. Most dealerships have rolled their internet and fleet depts together. So, yes you can buy from fleet/internet dept. If you cant wait for a custom order, then you've got some searching to do. If you see it on the website, call to confirm they have it available. Not sure how quick they update the sites.
Going to be hard to get a GT under MSRP. But dont pay over... plenty of dealerships around here not adding markups.
I can drop a few names you might ask for if you call. They might like the fact that word gets out they will deal on a mustang GT.
Bryan Quan at Fiesta Ford in Indio, CA (Internet/fleet dept) - my salesguy - great guy.
Brian Mathews at SJC Ford in SJC, CA (Internet/fleet dept) - My salesguy got my car quicker so no go with him, but seems to be a nice guy... watch these guys as Management has been shaking things up over there. people leaving/getting let go - not sure if that means anything to the customer.
Good luck finding one on the lot. I was too picky to do that. I wanted mine exactly how I got it. And let me add - worth the wait....
PM me if you have any other questions. I'll try to help.
Dave

Greetings!

06GT4me hit it on the head :stupid:

If you order a GT, you may get a break of $500, maybe $1000 off sticker. Or if you have access to X-Plan and can find a dealer who'll take it on the Mustang GT... that's sweet! (Good luck :bang: ) But if you're buying one off the lot you're definitely going to pay sticker, period. Demand is (still!) just too high... but I'll repeat what 06GT4me said... do not :nono: no matter what, pay over MSRP for your car. It's just not worth it. You have a lot of dealers in S. CA and there have to be more than just a few that will be willing to sell you the car at sticker.

I think finding a GT without a spoiler will be tricky. All but one or two that I have seen have it; it's a popular (and free) option. You'd have to ask the dealer what the possibilities are for getting the spoiler removed if that's what you want. Chances are they'd need to order in a new trunk lid painted the correct color and swap it out.

Between the car you want being so specific, and to avoid this look on your face when it comes to price:
I'm pretty sure you'll need to widen your search range. The smaller dealers may have a little more felxibility for you. I don't know their reputation, but have you checked out Hemborg Ford in Corona (or it might be in Norco)?

If you plan to go aftermarket I'd strongly suggest not getting a shaker system. The shaker adds extra wiring and complexity for the installer. Plus it will cost extra money for better sound that you plan to go aftermarket with anyway. Even if you only want a new deck and iPod interface, The Shaker 500 is about $670... and that'll buy a lot of additional aftermarket gear! For example, my entire Alpine system, which itself has an iPod interface, cost $1120 out the door, and that included the deck, interface, speakers... even a sub. That's less than $500 more and I got a heck of a lot more for it. It sounds like you want to use the stock speakers, but why not use the difference in cost to upgrade more than just the deck? Even if you spend $600 in aftermarket speakers, you'd come out ahead some $100 minimum plus have much better speakers! BTW, the shaker 1000 is some $1700 and that just isn't worthwhile IMO.

Can't say on the springs... but maybe a SoCal local can help you out there.

You car sounds like it will be really cool... good luck with your search!

I appreciate the help and info. I am not trying to be too specific in what I want. If anything I don't want Black. Black cars, Mustangs specifically are magnificent. Just a Heck of a lot of work, ya know. My last two cars were black and now I want something else.

I kinda figured that if I can order it I will try but the amount of time to get the car may be a big factor. If I have to wait, I'll guess I'll suffer ;)

As far as the stereo goes, I kinda figured that all the lot GTs are gonna have the spoiler, as you said it's free, and the Shaker. If I'm stuck w/the Shaker, then if a aftermarket head unit can be used I might try that. IF I can order the GT or find one w/o the Shaker then I will do that. 1,200 bucks is a whole lotta aftermarket tunes

I'm not afraid to travel, my car will get me there, just the outta state dealers I'm not too sure about.

I'll tell ya this much. I can't freaking wait.

I went to about 5 different dealers looking for a "on lot" 05.... there were a few but they were either not the color I really wanted or they were verts... ( I didn't want a vert). So I ended up ordering an 06 to my specifications, and told the guy... " hey I am going to write you a check for the full amount of the car, what are you gonna do for me?" He offered it to me at the 05 price... not an AMAZING deal but hey, it works.... and its still under 30k! ;) I suggest toughing it out and ordering what you want, dont settle for something you dont LOVE just to have it now.

uh...isn't the 05 price basically the same as the 06 price? Wasn't any difference between the 2 on the V6 I ordered.

Yes, the prices from the 05 and the 06 differ a little, however with the package I got.... which is basicaly fully loaded, I am paying the price of a moderatly loaded 05 coup delux GT ..... when I actually got an 06 coup premium GT. Like I said... not a huge amount of cash in savings.... but enough to make a difference. :D
