KB 1.7 9-psi Kit Owners...Performance Stats Please

wait! you guys are not seeing 400rwhp with the kb inless your on 100 octain?

is that running the 9 psi? you cant run 93 and get 400 rwhp? i thought that it came with the intercooler. wouldnt that mean you could run more boost on less octain?

014 (Blue) = KB kit in "Shootout" mode; 399-HP / 397-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)
013 (Red) = KB kit in "Power" mode; 372.3-HP / 380.6-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)

Both of these runs were made with 100 octane fuel on the 9-psig intercooled kit; one run the chip was flipped to Power (91 octane tune) and then flipped to Shootout (100 octane tune).

That blue line has a nice lookin A/F ratio. You probably had some available horsepower with the Saleen kit by leaning it up just a little bit as well. Hard to see it, but the green(Saleen) line looks like it is around 11.0. I like it to be up around 11.8 - 12.0 max.

If memory serves....the Saleen Series IV blower is just a tad smaller than the Kenne Bell too. 1.6L vs the KB's 1.7L. The difference may be minimal, but it could be enough to see 10hp difference shown on the graph.

I'm over 400 on 92 pump gas and a conservitive tune. Every car is a little different. Another guy I know locally with the KB 9lb kit, but with there tune and their air kit, is getting 401RWHP using the same pump gas as me. Seems most guys are getting anywhere from the 380's to 420's with this set up. Some are even a little lower, and some a little higher.

ok that sounds a little better. i want to be able to break 400rwhp and tq with the 9 psi kit. im am going to have a built engine and want to use as much boost as i can on pump gas. although i can only go to what, 14psi with the 9 psi kit?

im sure that would be more then enough for the street in fact i will prolly only do about 12 or 13 pully, i dont really want to max out the blower. i do have heads and blower cams, so i will not see 12 psi of boost with the 12psi pully. i will prolly hage to go 14 pully to get 12 psi.

i wonder if this blower will be enough. i might have to stick with the novi 2000 as originally plan.

what wver i go with i have to keep it on pump gas as its a street car.

how about a 2.2 KB

hoppy, what are your #'s...if you posted them i must have missed them.
Check out post number 18; it has a dyno sheet also.

There are three runs on this sheet:
014 (Blue) = KB kit in "Shootout" mode; 399-HP / 397-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)
013 (Red) = KB kit in "Power" mode; 372.3-HP / 380.6-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)
012 (Green) = Saleen Series IV kit; 362.8-HP / 390.1-Tq (on 91 octane fuel)

If you decide to run it out to 14psi, with a fully optioned KB and exhaust system you should see right around 500hp at the wheels, but keep in mind, this isn't going to happen on pump gas. You'd likely get away with 11-12psi runing pump gas and that should put you in the 450rwhp range with the fully optioned KB. That's nothing to complain about....just don't plan on doing it without a forged shortblock. ;)

It's going to cost you a pile any way you slice it.

There is something wrong with your car . I got 376 hp and 404 tq at the wheels with a automatic . It was done with crappy california gas to . I told the the guy that was tunning my car to not make more changes to make more power . He cleaned the A/f and that was it . There is more power to be had tunning it if I ever want it . My car runs greate by the way . My mods are as followe KB 1.7 IC , 42 pound injectors, 90mm mass air meter , 75 mm throttle body , KB big tube kit , Borla stinger cat back and Diablo chip .

There's nothing wrong with his car, you have the big tube option and a full exhaust. without it, you would have likely made about 15-20hp less.....which is about right on the money for a stock Auto equiped Stang with a base 9psi KB kit.

I have the full kit. I have dynoed the car 3 times on 3 different dynos and got the following results:

KB tune. 401 hp 411 tq.
SCT tune: 416hp 428 tq.
SCT tune 2: 417 hp 434 tq.

Mods are in sig. I was running very lean on the kb tune (13.5:1 at 4k rpm when we let go) so I decided to get s custom dyno tune. Now I am planning on getting a smaller pulley... 10, 12 and 14 psi ones.... I will let you know what the AF etc is like and when the engine gave up.....I have a new engine being built as we speek so I just want to see how much abuse the stocker can take... I don't believe in the 9 psi being the limit.
