My friends seem to think it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to EVER run 11.999 or lower without stroking/forced induction etc.

Needless to say, I think it's very possible. I'm doing everything I can for weightloss. I'm building up up a strong HCI combo (only need the heads lol) and aiming for 350 horse with some luck. I'll write out my combo and somebody critique Thanks... I'll put * next to what I don't have yet.

I know there's like $4,000+ worth listed that I am yet to have but tax return is coming up and I still have christmas so it's not like I'm makin some "Dream List" Anyway I don't see any reason I shouldn't have 100% hook and nothing breaking along the way. Thanks for bearing with this thread for whoever actually has lol...

I don't know about that cam, but i'd suggest a custom or an afm cam. You're gonna need more gear as well.

I'd rethink that entire combo if you haven't bought anything yet.

I already have most of that combo and I don't trust myself yet with more gear to be honest. It breathes really well with the cam in there IMO, but I've never really experimented with anything else. I also have 1.7 rockers so my engine doesn't seem to have a breathing problem. But I do think you're right because I don't need to push the lift and duration limits without forced induction :(

Not sure what to make of "don't trust myself yet with more gear"..and your planning on making 350RW and you don't trust yourself with a near stock car and gears? As far as the cam..I don't see that making the grade, your going to need a custom and some very good quality heads to make 350 at the wheels. IMO you building your combo all wrong, parts need to be selected that are proven to work together..what may feel nice with stock heads may leave you wanting when the upgrades come along. You've also failed to note any fuel or maf upgrade..though I could be wrong..as it sits now your making likely 220-230HP so your going to need alot of head (no pun intended) to reach that 350 mark.

Sorry DMAN but you must have REALLY REALLY skimmed my post at lightning speed.

Upgraded my CARBURETED MAF? Performer heads are on the way... And I don't trust myself with more gear just because I really don't lol. And I don't see how my car is NEAR STOCK? That's an insult lol. Here's how near stock it is...

Was LX now GT
Was 2.3 now 5.0
Was EFI now Carb'd
Was 7.5 rear now 8.8
The suspension is all aftermarket
The top of the engine is all aftermarket
Wheels, tires, brakes.

WTF my car is not NEAR stock just because it's not stroked, blown, juiced, and mini-tubbed with 4.56 gears and parachute. Sorry for being so harsh I just really took offense to that.

Sorry come across as harsh..not my intention, just wanted to point out some things I had observed. Stock headed intake and cam are worth 20hp, exhaust 10 plus a few here and there...as stated 220-230 RW as she sits..throw a nice set of Eddys on there and the cam wakes up a bit..the intake gets to work and now your talkin 280HP nice numbers...not 11's but should see high 12 with all your mods listed.

well IMO it takes 300rwhp to go 11's in a normal car with moderate gear 3.73 or higher is a must.

heads will wake the car up like crazy , i gained between 7 and 8 mph just with a head swap and stock cam .

11's can be done but itll take some weight loss ( which your list looks good )
a good driver a good suspension and 280-320rwhp is used rite .

best of luck and my goals are the same are yours so keep us updated

i have to disagree w/ that....300 hp if your car weighs 2500 lbs. w/ you in it maybe...i think 300 for 12's and 400 for 11's

but definitely need the gears...go 4.10's

heads (ported nicely, polished exhaust, comp vale job and decked a bit), intake , 4.10's , cam, plus a 100 shot of nitrous is the easiest way to get 11's...and will run a decent 12 when off the bottle.

my old notch went 12.50's w/ just 4.10's and et streets exhaust and ez stuff.

i had the heads (aluminum eddy ported like i said)and extrude honed cobra upper and lower , b-cam and the rest ready to go on...i was expecting 11.80's on the nitrous w/ that setup. the car was stolen b4 it went on , but i figured it good for 400 hp

I'll counter that and say that Evan Smith ran an 11.17 best with 350rwhp at 3200lbs.

I know that is Evan Smith and a car probably using every trick in the book, but I don't see why someone couldn't go 11.99 with a little over 300rwhp and a 3100lb car.

True, it's possible.....but that's like saying you'll win the Boston marathon just because you're the same weight and height as previous winners.....all you have to do is buy the same running shoes, shorts and shirt right? Skill is a major factor my friend.

P.S. - Foxfan....you also forgot a clutch (possibly flywheel too?) and a shifter for that TKO.

well, paul with the yellow sn95 vert went 12.03 with 311hp. on the run he blew his engine he was on track to break into the 11's. i say with major weight reduction and 320 or so hp you could do it.

Yeah, thats true. I just checked and Smith actually ran 11.08. With say 310-315rwhp and being 100lbs lighter than his car, I still say 11.99 should be more than possible, especially without having the class rules his car is under.

Thanks guys. i'm replacing EVERYTHING, nothing will be stock. So the stuff about the clutch, shifter, etc. isn't a problem. Of course this combo is probably about 9 months worth of $ away. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm going with performer heads by the way and porting the exhaust side. I'm hoping to see 320+ rwhp and the entire suspension is the process right now, including a possible aluminum k-member :)
