Since gas is getting outrageous for trucks, my wife is wanting to trade in my 99 f150 sport 4x4, with a 3" body lift :notnice: :notnice: , on something smaller, and sporty. I tried to get her to drive my cobra, but she said she can't comfortably reach the pedals. A manual tranny is also out of the question. If you had to get a car other than a mustang, FOR YOUR WIFE'S daily driver, what would you look at. We are going to try to stay around the 10000 dollar range, which is rough trade in for the truck. Any ideas?? thanks, chris

2005 Crown Vic LX with the HPP. Safe and surprisingly nimble for its size. Since 2002, they've made considerable advances with rack and pinion steering, better torque convertor, more horsepower and torque, etc. I test drove a 05 awhile back while at the dealership for service and was surprised at how well it built speed and and how decent it handled. With the HPP rear air suspension, it also does not wallow like the standard Vic does. Plus, with the near 240 horses (I think underrated) and 285 lbs.-ft. of torque and a 3.27 rear, it was displaying 30 mpg at 62 mph constant and still a very respectable 24 mpg at 75 mph on the interstate. It'll burn regular unleaded and comes with a lot of nice up-to-date options.

replacement car

get her a decent Taurus SHO, fun a$$ car to drive and you can get them with auto tranny, 200+hp, decent gas mileage, just dont get the newer ones with the v8, not as much fun

Nissan Maxima

Get her a Nissan Maxima. I got a 2001 GLE for my wife and she loves it. Actually I love it too. 220 horses and the interior is amazing. After riding in that car for a few hours, when I get back in the cobra, it feels like an escorts interior. The seats are so comfy too. Quick car, pretty good on gas, classy looking.
Nice ride.

thanks guys. definately not a four door, no civic. I thought maybe a jetta, but she thinks they look too much like a focus. maybe a del sol, or miata. I guess I could put a 5.0l in a miata. no too much money. oh well the search continues!!!!!
