05 GT Auto.. Stock

Runs with 95-97 LT1 WS6 Auto... Loses to 6-speed with good driver (Assuming Trans Am is in proper running order)
98-99 Ws6 or Trans Am... Looses a little worse than above.

00-02 Wsg or Trans am with 6-speed... when he hits 3rd... you will see tailights shrink.
Auto... same thing.

The New GTs are still behind thos Ls1 cars, I knopw what GM rated them at, but most of them put close to 300 at the wheels stock.

The LT1s have a few less ponies, but have more torque and an advantage in gearing if the car has a 3.42.... over your auto.

I just got rid of a 95 Z-28 w/LT1 6-speed combo... I think it would be a drivers race between it stock and my 5-Speed GT stock.

:nice:

No way Kyle.

The Z28s and Trans Ams are rated at 310hp, 300hp for the GT, slight advantage to the GM.

3.42 gears in the GM, 3.55 gears in the GT, to close to make a difference, but if it did the advantage goes to the GT.

AT vs 5 or 6 speed. No difference on the street, it all depends on the driver. If there is an advantage it goes to the AT, less chance of a missed shift.

Weight: The GT weighs in at about 90 more lbs, slight advantage to the GM.

Age: The F-cars are 4+ years old now, the GT is new.

On stock street driven cars its a pretty even match on paper, its all about the driver.

Go look at the F-body boards and see how they run :nice:

By gearing.. I mean that GM has the Advantage because of the 6-speed with the 3.42.

You can talk advantage/Disadvantage all you want.

Noticed I also included.. Proper running order.

We are talking about WS6 LT1s which had a littl more oomph...

The LS1's are 345Hp Motors.. whichj is why they dont seem to have any trouble getting stock ones to Dyno 290+ RWHP.

I love my Stang, but I have a realalist view of where its at speedwise. I know for certain it wouldt take my 89 Turbo Trans Am with a V6 rated at 250hp:lol: That was probably the biggest Sandbag GM ever Did.

GM rated them low so as not to compete so closely with the Corvette. It's common knowledge that the LS1 in the Cambird was underrated by GM at 310HP. They were closer to 330-340HP.

I used to own a 2001 Camaro SS MN6. Bone stock it dynoed at 326 rwhp. So you can figure out how much power they actually had. That car was demon and even more so in the cold weather. It pulled hard in 1st thru 4th gears. Any 01-02 LS1 car will blow the doors of the 05 GT. But to be honest, the current GT is a better car mechanically in my opinion. I am looking at ordering an 06 in about a month. The LS1s were neat cars, but I had a few problems with the clutch.
