Just a thought.
At the end of the winter it's time for some paint for my 1990.
I've beat the chasis pretty bad, nothing irrepairable though.

I never see any foxbody rolling chassis missing engine and trans. Maybe that black one a while back on ebay, but that was a friggin mess.

Just thinking, i could have a true saleen repainted, and drop my drivetrain in it.

Is this just wishful thinking or can it happen?
And is it going to be too far past cost effective?

Poor condition hatchbacks with lots of miles on the clock have a hard time selling for over $6k, and depending on the seller might go for even less.

How low were you thinking of finding one?

Is the idea to pick up a real Saleen Mustang regardless of condition, add in your Stangs Powertrain, and do it for less than the price of buying a "pristine Saleen"?

You may want to call Mark @ Performance Autosport to see if he knows of any "Sub $5K" Saleens that are floating around the market.

Hey Mike find your Key's already. :D

There is a guy over at www.foureyedpride.com that picked up a pretty rough 86 T-top car that was missing 80% of it's Saleen part's. He gave right around 4k for it.

They are out there but I wouldnt buy one that was missing most of it's specific part's unless you have them already and could transplant them onto the "real" car.

This may be a good chance to "save" a real Saleen that need's some help. I dont see a problem with modding a high mileage car, at least it will still be on the road so that other's may enjoy it.

Thanks mike,
I didn't know whether project cars that were never finsihed popped up.
I guess it would be easier to just buy a used running car.

Thanks for the advise Kyle ;)

If I don't find them soon I am going to have to call somebody to make a new set, as I want to move the car from the Garage-Mahal to the heated upstairs garage before winter sets in here. There is still a little time left, as it was top-down Speedster weather today :)

A salvage title is not thrilling to me, because i'm guessing when done the car would hold no more value than the car i own now.
Also that guy say's "custom widened fenders" don't want that either.
But, good link. It does show some fixer uppers exist.

the one i found had all the parts but the guy wanted like 10k for the car and it had bad floors and was really worth 5k IMO, Now he's painting it and doing all this work.

i guess there's deals out there but that def. was not one

Rough life when you have to move a car from the unheated garage to the heated garage  :rlaugh:

So, when is the maiden voyage of the S-281 snowplow? Careful, those wing tips might not be enough out there :rlaugh:
