i am wondering if i will gain anything just by gasket matching my explorer gt 40p heads and gt40 explorer intake to the stock gaskets. i see by using the stock gaskets there is still room to improve and i can take some metal off but dont know if its worth doing?

how much/what can i gain by gasketmatching these parts? what about porting them both?

i will have a trickflow 1 cam and mass air if that helps any.

Gasket matching doesn't always work, if at all sometimes.
Port matching is what works, but it requires a tool to scribe the intake or heads when the parts are mach'ed-up on the engine with gaskets.
Take the heads and the intake to an expert, they will do it, and possibly mill the intake to fit perfect, now that's worth the time and money.

Right!! gasket match the intake to the intake runners on the heads... the same on the exhaust side!! Just blend. matching in to remove any sharp bends.. like maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch!! With the valves out of the heads.. look into the bowls.. see all those sharp edges?? smooth them out also... DONT get exoit.. just a good smoothing and your making power!! NOW... with the heads at the machine shop.. get a Performance valve job. make sure the springs will carry the cam.. surface flat and your rocking!! You should see 15-20 RWHP over the stock GT40s... Cool??
