I just installed my K&N AirCharger kit this weekend and I'm not sure if it's worth $250. The first disappointment was the sloppy fit between the air-filter housing and the intake tube from the scoop. The hole in the air-filter housing is just too big. I'm not sure if K&N intended for this kind of fit, but I'm going to use some black silicon to seal it up.

Also, I couldn't get the screen from the stock mass air sensor tube to fit with the K&N parts, so I left it out entirely. I'm not sure if this was wise.

Other than these problems, the kit looks and sounds great. I can't really say that it was a major increase in performance, but my car does feel awesome.

Any of you guys install this kit?

Too bad you didn't get it at the GP price on mach1registry.com. The one built for the Mach 1 has been reported to be a perfect fit so far but I've only seen a couple post where they are installed. Do you get the proper kit?

I'm pretty sure I have the right kit. Everything does fit very well except for what I mentioned. I usually end up missing out on good deals, so I'm not disappointed.

After playing around with my car today, I do think you can feel a small performance boost.

thats the reason i didnt jump on group buy...i only saw 1 pic here it was close to fender..but still had gap...any throttle response difference?

Yes, there is a slight increase in throttle response. Not sure if that's worth $250 though. I guess it is if you're serious about your Mach1.

got mine used for $100. I had the opposite problem. the hole in the housing for the tube connecting the shaker to the kit seems to small. I got it in, but it wasnt easy. I wouldnt spend much more then $100 for it though. it does look good.

Just checked the link. The K&N intake does look better, I'm not down with the kinks in the stock intake. My question is: is there a larger diameter Mass-Air meter assembly to combine with this intake? I did that with my 2000GT and could tell quite the difference; it looked good as well (polished aluminum).

Please be advised that I removed my K&N intake a long time ago and replaced it with the C&L unit!

In my honest opinion, the C&L unit is far superior, in terms of looks, fit, and performance. Also, the C&L kit offers a bigger MAF housing which uses the stock MAF.

Just so no one is mislead, I'm going to post pictures of both intake kits.

Here is a picture of the K&N kit:

And here is a picture of the C&L kit with the new MAF housing:

I have it on my car. Fits fine and I paid 189 shipped. Power was noticeable. Looks good under the hood. I just couldn't fork out the money for the c&l kit, when I'm going with a blower in a few months. I'll be selling mine in feb. LOL!

WOOHOO Wurd, I like that a lot! Just what I was looking for.

Please post a link where I can order that C&L kit with larger mass air.

Did you have to flash the CPU or use a Predator to tune that? Probably a silly question, just checking before I order it.

I ordered the C&L kit from tach9 over at Mach1Mustang.org.

But I bet you can also get the kit from RPMOutlet.

The part number is CNL10699M1P which currently goes for $340. This includes everything you need for an awesome CAI setup.

A word of warning, I have never had any trouble with RPMOutlet. I have placed about four orders with no trouble. But what's odd is that I've read quite a few bad experiences with this service. However, being that the C&L kit is not extremely expensive, I don't thinks it's much of a risk.

And word has it that this CAI kit, on a stock Mach1, leans the A/F ratio out at WOT. Therefore, depending on your setup, you should get a custom tune to go along with this kit.
