Question about autometer gauge clusters

Well i was going to ask my dad for the autometer instrument cluster set because i want more accurate gauges. From what ive read it just plugs into your existing instrument board, so my question is, woudl this make them any more accurate than the stock gauges? Do the stock gauges suck because of the poor quality or because of the inacuracy of the actual mechanics of where they read the signal?

they are no more accurate than the OEM gauges. they just look cooler.

I have them. Looks awesome. Expensive, but you can find them on ebay for a fairly decent price.

i dotn really see any point in gettin them if they are no more accurate then the factory gauges

Eh.. same reason people get the mach 1 spoiler, or the grille delete, or racing stripes, spoiler deletes, etc.. for looks.

I just sold my 5 inch autometer tach w/ shiftlight for $25 and got a raptor shiftlight with a GP on Mustangworld for cheap. I only really need the light now I redline@ 7k

However the autometers do look good but I dont see them working any more accurate than the stockers.

I have them on my 02 GT, only draw back is that they are very bright at night.

I keep mine at about 1/2 brightness like Autometer suggests to keep from burning them out too soon.

i keep mine all the way down too...its not bad except sometimes they glare in the side windows...but they look GREAT. I usually get complimented on the exhaust or the gauges.

Maybe not more accurate but. It actually tells you when ur car is on its way to getting hot instead of middle then overheating, same with the oil and volts

what do you mean? So they are more accurate in a sense then....

My point is this: Ive always heard stock gauges suck, they are innacurate ive heard, i dont know why ive just heard they suck. So i want to replace the oil pressure and water temp because i want something that i can rely on. If i wanted to do this, would replacing the stock cluster with one of these improve my situation from what i have stock?

It is hit or miss on the 04's I was told by autometer, I have them on mine and they work fine, and I love them !

It would be nice if they made a reverse glow and not make whole dash light up. IMO.

Do they make clusters that are white and reverse glow? Not looking for cheap overlays...with new guages!

there have been many posts here on this subject and all 04 owners i know here who have tried to put the cluster in only end up removing them because they do not work.....03 and earlier have no problem but as for 04's.....its a no go. I am not willing to part with the money to find out whether this is true on my car or not. Is there any 04 owners out there who have had one work on thier stang??? Lets here your story.....
