Roush Saleen exhaust question

Hi guys! I just bought what was listed as a stock x-pipe takeoff from a 2003 Saleen S281 s/c from a guy on ebay. From the pictures, it looks like a Magnaflow x-pipe with stock looking cats. Does anybody know who manufactured the mid-pipe on those cars? And do you think I can get a slight performance bump installing it on my 03 Mach 1 which has a Borla stinger cat back and a stock h-pipe? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I believe the stock pipe was not a X-pipe but a H-pipe. Don't know the manuifacturer, though.

You might get a few HP out of the X-pipe but not noticeable. If your car is running a blower or turbo, you would definitely notice/ feel a difference. The sound of an X-pipe is also pretty cool.

Well, it arrived UPS today, and this is what it looks like. I guess it could be a stock Mustang h-pipe with an "x" welded in place of the crossover.

Seriously? Is that all they do is just weld into the stock mustang exhaust. Freaking cheap asses, at least put on a real x pipe for a 40-60K dollar car. So if you swap out for a real X pipe, do you notice any performance gains or better/louder sound?

i hate to be the bearer of bad news... BUT

i put a saleen X pipe (same as one in picture) on my gt and it made it noticeably quiter. one good thing is the saleen x pipe seems to be made of a different metal and its lighter and alot less prone to rusting.

performance... it may have helped a few hp but nothin i could really notice

it sounded good with my magnapacks, but i eventually just went with a pro-chamber

Well, thanks for all the responses. I'm going to try it, just to see what it does. I had an o/r Magnaflow x-pipe on my car, but when I added the Borla stingers, it was just plain too loud, both inside and outside the car. I sold the x-pipe and put my stock h-pipe back on, and it did quiet it down to a reasonable level, but also dropped the power levels down a few notches. That's why this pipe intriqued me, I was hoping the noise level would be maintained at about what it is now, but with a slight bump in hp and torque. If it doesn't work out, I'll just sell it and get an aftermarket catted midpipe of some kind.

If you replace the 4 cat saleen junk x pipe with an aftermarket with 2 cats, but not an off road x pipe, will it still pass emissions inspections? I would like a 2 cat x pipe but need it to pass our strict emissions down here.
