Now i know thumper is on here, and feel free to jump it. i was gonna PM you, but i want everyones response. i have the rebuilt 306 in my car now, with the T5, B cam, TRW pistons, etc. other than that, it's stock. the E7's are great, but i've been told the next step is cylinder heads. throughout this whole thing, i need reliability, and streetability. i dont want to over step the limits of the car..mainly the transmission (the T5). the best bang for the buck would be aluminum heads (TF, GT40's, AFR 165's, etc....) or so i've been told. my car has the chance of overheating almost every day (florida...doh!), so i cant risk the warping of aluminum heads. are ported E7's the way to go? with these thumper heads, will the reliability be dropped drastically? most of all...with any of the cylinder heads (aluminum or iron)...will i need to upgrade my stock 19 lb injectors? how about mass air meter? thanks in advance! feel free to PM if needed.

I had a set of thumper's heads on my mustang and loved them. I don't think you can beat them for price. You may not get 100K miles out of them but they don't affect your reliability much if any.. I don't think you are going to need to upgrade your injectors based on your list of mods and the heads. If you put a SC on then you would need too.

What`s this not getting 100k miles out of them???This is :bs:.

There`s plenty of stock factory E7 head motors going WAY past 100,000 miles from the factory.
200,000k or MORE miles from past reading experience on stock engines,or bolt on modified stock E7 head engines.

With professionally ported and rebuilt heads with better guides and springs from the factory, longevity can only be increased.

I dont see why not. Stock heads have gone 200,000+ miles with ease when taken care of. And with these heads your getting fresh components (if you upgrade the springs) and the only thing your doing is removing material. I cant see that causing excessive wear on anything!

I don't see why you couldn't get 100k out of them.. If i weren't so far away from Thumper, i'd like to have a set of heads worked by him!

lol he only charges an extra 25 bucks to ship them back to you. I just got a set of gt40's back from his and they are the sexiest heads I’ve ever seen! You should pick up a set of gt40's and have him work his magic on them!

I have the thumpers, hands down the best bang for the buck, If you want to build a reilable street package he'll take care of you, just tell him what you're shooting for. He wont try to bull**** you around

Problem is, i live in Ontario (Canada) - and shipping would be expensive. I have a set of 351w big valve heads (D0OE) that i've got some plans for :D

I dont have anything against the reliablity of thumper heads but i put them on my car and only gained 2 tenths in 8th of a mile.:nonono: needless to say i was pretty dissapointed.:( So now im saving up for some AFR 185's.

There could be a lot of reasons behind that...

I went 13.0s on stock untouched heads with just bolt ons. I then added my big valve heads and a few more little things, and went back and only went 12.80 and 12.79. Needless to say I was a little down, but knew there was a bunch left in it. Ended up getting that down into the 12.5 range with some more track time after figuring out shift points and where to launch it. My 1/8 mile times probably only dropped a few tenths, but the difference between 13.0 @ 103 and 12.5 @ 106 is a good deal!

.2 in the eighth? That's pretty damn good for just a head bolt on. What would that translate out to in the 1/4? I think that's a good gain. I didn't have good luck with AFR 185's. I like the Twisted Wedge heads much better.

with ported irons (gt40's or E7's) or aluminum heads, would i need upgraded injectors? how about fuel pump? i know i'd need the R.R.'s and hardened push rods, but would anything else be a good idea (in either case).
thanks again!

if you use ped mount heads you wont need hardened pushrods. its a good idea to do the fuel pump. yours will probobly go out sooner than later. you would be ok with the stock maf and injectors on the irons. if you go to the aluminum you will probobly have to step up on the maf and injectors, stud mount rockers, hardened pushrods, guideplates, etc.
