I have a set of GT40 heads that I plan to install in the near future and I am unsure of the head bolts needed. I purchased ARP #154-3601 head bolts, but I have read that the bolt holes are larger than the holes in E7's. Does any one know if these bolts will work and do I need to buy some sort of spacer to go with these. They are Iron GT40's. Any info would be appreciated.

Those are the bolts I used. I know other people have used those too. The alignment dowels will keep the head from shifting. But with 70-75 ft-# of torque on those bolts, they aren't going to shift anyway.

John's right about the dowel pins locating the heads, but I would run the spacers. I don't like giving things the opportunity to move in a bad way.

"Regular" gt-40 heads such as those that come from the factory on a 93-95 cobra have 1/2 inch holes, while the block has 7/16's holes.

You will need the insert washers if you want to do it right. 154-3605's I believe.

You only need the bolt hole spacer if the heads are off a 351. The 351 used a larger bolt hole at 1/2in the 302 uses a smaller one.

I have heads off a 95 cobra its a 302 head to a 302 block so they use the same head bolt...no need for hole spacer/tube.

FWIW spend the little extra for the ARP bolts.
