Smells like COOLANT spirits

Hey knowledgable people,
I have a problem I have noticed about a month ago with my stang. After coming back from work, the freakin car smelled like burnt coolant from the outside. In addition, when I turn my hearter on, it smells stronger inside. I thought the radiator was leaking but found no leaks. I flushed it either way but that did not fix the problem. Then I though the thermostat was not working properly. What made me think otherwise is that the engine temperature displays correctly: cold first then warms up gradually after driving. Finally I thought the radiator was clogged and I would let it run. That did not help the problem. :nonono:

I did a little search on the forum and found out it may be a heater core issue. I hope it is not since there are serious costs to replace it. Here is what I need to know:
-I bought the car certified used so is that part covered by the warranty;
-If I do not get it fixed, will it damage my engine in any way.

I appreciate your reponses.
