Finally mached up a 5.0 with AOD today. And actually fit better than I thought it would. Looks great. I did have to cut open the top of the tranny tunnel right at the bell housing bolts. The opening I cut just clears the bottom of the plenum. Factory exhaust manifolds work but are a little close to the trany dipstick. Prolly go shortie headers with custom exhaust. Going to be tight up front with the serpintine belt and A/C but looks like it can be done. I still have alot of work to do but its starting to piece together.:SNSign:

Good to know.

FWIW, I found the serpentine system to be about 3/4" too long to fit in my II with the stock 5.0 fan and II radiator; I had to swap in the old 302 accessories. Major PITA. What fan/radiator are you using? I'd love to have the serpentine system in my II. Looks way trick.

I,m going to be using a griffen 24 by 19 rad. from summit. As far as clearance issues. It really hasn't been a problem to me because i'm redoing everything. So that it fits right. For instance by going with the aftermarket rad. I needed to fab up radiator mounts anyways so I moved it forward about 2 to 3 inches. The radiator will be right under the core support about 1/2 inch behind the stock a/c condensor. In order to make the most out of a fan clutch it needs to be about 3/4 of an inch from the radiator surface, so that will determine the final rad. position. Another thing, not all fan clutches are equel in length. Ford has been putting FC's in there V8 models for around 25 years or more. Alot are the same length but not all of them and to my knowledge they all have the same 4 bolt pattern. Or if worse comes to worse i will chop the 4 bolt mounting shaft down to size then reweld it to fit. Being sure not to cause heat damage the FC internals when it is welded. I bet the shaft in the FC can be pressed out or maybe pressed forward. hmm I,ll have to check on that.
