American MUSCLE over Asian REVVER.

The STI puts gets 18/24 mpg. Anything that puts out 300hp from the factory is going to be in that general area.

I'm not suggesting you go one way or another, I'm just saying that most of these sports cars are pretty even, though they perform some tasks above/below the others.

I've seen a more STIs than new mustangs on the road, and more terb'd hondas than those two combined. And the fact that the mustang is so popular means that they'll have outstanding aftermarket support. Just makes sense.

Okay, so I'm kinda headed down the right path.

This is interesting to see:

The WRX STI:

# 300-hp 2.5-liter DOHC intercooled, TC'd boxer engine @ ????RPM?
# 300 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm

The Stang:

# 300-hp 4.6 liter OVH V8 @ 5750
# 320 lb.ft of torque at 4500

Damn near half the liters and probably 600 lbs less in weight. but torque specs are similar. What should this tell me when I'm comparing these two cars? That they are actaully similar in how they would fly off the line? What other factors am I not seeing here..

Also whats OVH?

The 4.6 liter V8 is SOHC (single overhead cam) not OHV (overhead valve). Those numbers listed are peak. You need to look at the power curve, how much power does the Subaru make at 1500 rpm? When driving along at 35 mph then punch the gas in 4th gear do you get put into the seat, or does the car bog down? The numbers might be similar at peak but the difference might be alot more at lower rpm.

ahh, okay!

On a bit of a side note, there is one car that I kinda forgot about. Pontiac GTO, Same engine as the Corvette. Thoughts and opinions on it? Some of my friends that say "pontiac drivers are crazy". And knowing three friends that drive a pontiac, I have to think they're right! :rlaugh:

hehe, The GTO is somehing I could consider. TO ME, its modern muscle cuz its got a V8. And a pretty darned good one to boot. I'm already sold on the appearance of the stang over the GTO however. The GTO looks like 'any other coupe' to me.

Well, both. They love the classics, don't get me wrong there, I should have stated that previously. It's the modern American made/muscle cars that don't seem to impress them. My apology's ahead of time on this one. They can keep their little ricer cars. In my world MUSCLE is V8! :nice: :SNSign:
