Slight noise in 5th gear

HI all...

I'm noticing a small rattle type noise coming from the front end when I shift into 5th gear. Any other gear is fine. At first I thought it was the heater fan or something, cuz that's kinda what it sounds like. But even with the heat in the 'off' position it makes the noise. This happens only once I'm in 5th. Imagine the sound of a playing card in a bicycle spoke riding slowly... and much quieter... same sound. Any ideas? Suggestions to track it down?

I have a very similar sound...somebody said it had something to do with the a/c...try searching for a thread on it....apparantly it is a common problem with '02 up stangs that has been reported by Ford...I live with it for now since I don't have time to try and fix it

sounds the same as mine. I have an 02 and its the stupid middle A/C vents or the trim around it rattling. :bang: Shouldnt be too hard to fix with foam/felt tape, but i'm too lazy to rip it apart and try.

nope...it is the MGW. Mine does the same thing in 5th. It is more noticable if you have the lower fill rate. Turn the radio up.

PS: my cowl rattles too.
