oddly quiet...

first off i just bought me a 04 GT in DSG on Monday so im a bit of a n00b to the Mustang 4.6 Mod world but im not to Chevy and prettymuch all imports... now that we have that out of the way, my car came w/ some flowmasters on it, weld-ins, and they seem to be EXTREMLY quiet once the engine is warm. like when its just idling you can just bearly hear it if you stand at the back and listen hard. inside the car it sounds like a monster... i know that getting a new midpipe be it a h-pipe or a x-pipe will change the sound but will it bring up the volume a little... im not looking for earth shattering sound just a bit of noise so i can annoy the neighbors if need be :D

if you wanna see the pics i took of it the night i got it goto... www.roadconetuning.com its my website that i run for my area of SC and its got pictures and videos on it as well as a forum for my local buddies...

Weld-in Flows will have some drone. That's typical of chambered mufflers. But that comes with the territory of a deep Muscle car sound. It should only be around 1800-2100 RPM.

The whole exhaust tone and volume is highly subjective. Even for yourself. Sometimes I feel my exhaust volume is too loud. Sometimes it's too quiet. Sometimes it sounds deep. Sometimes it doesn't.

That T/A has one muffler. You have two. My brother-in-law has a 3.4L v6 Camaro (1994 vintage) and it's a good deal louder than my Mustang was even with an offroad x and Flowmaster 40s. He has one Flowmaster 40 and no cat.

Get an O/R Mac Prochamber, IMO they sound the best with flows.

I've got one on my car and I love the way it sounds. I get so many compliments everywhere I go. Its no too loud, not quiet. It just sounds so damn good! :nice:

- H-pipe will give you a more "deep" sound
- X-pipe will give you a louder raspy/sharper sound. (x-pipes give more hp gains)

Its really debatable though...and SLP makes the best quality stuff, and sounds the best!!! :nice: I was given a Magnaflow X pipe, so i instaleld it. But if i had to buy a new midpipe, like your shoes, i'd buy an H-pipe.

why the head scratching? its just a 4g63 out of a 98 Eclipse GSX.... the Tuned By AMG cover is off of a Japanese Galant VR-4 which WAS tuned by amg but when my friend bought the car that was on tehre and rather tahn spend 60 bucks on a new piece of plastic he just left it there... and that picture was taken the night we had put on the tubular turbo manifold....

Yeah once I added the x pipe to mine it got a whole lot louder. Something catted will create a little less sound. You could always go with SLP that gives you the option of going with catted or non catted with the same midpipe.
