GT350H Spy Photos

Wait I dont get this. Maybe I'm too young. So Ford is going to make a SE GT for Hertz rentals to be used as a rental car? That sounds completely retarded to me. Why? It looks cool at least. Nice hood. I'm lookin for something that'd keep my engine bay and SC cool.

Well, the naysayers said that the MPH cover was a fake, but now we have proof the MPH cover is accurate.

The only other thing I can say is that I'm now sick of the Bullitt wheels. 6 years is too long for the same wheel style ( and I have Bullitts on my Mustang ). The GT-350H should have at least had some new wheels. They should have used the Magnum 500 style wheels, as most of the original 1966 GT-350Hs came with Magnum 500s. Even better would have been to make a modern interpetation of the optional multispoke GT350 / GT500 wheels from the 60s.

I'm much too young to have been around when the original GT350Hs were but they did the same thing decades ago. "Rent-a-Racer"

This time around things are being done backwards, that is they're coming up with the GT-350H rental car before a customer GT-350.

Here's how the GT-350H happened in the 1960s.

As most of us know, in 1964 Ford hired Shelby to make a performance version of the Mustang, something that could compete with the Corvette in SCCA production racing. As we all know, that car was the 1965 GT-350. Shelby sold only 562 of the 1965 GT-350s.

In 1966 Shelby and his GM, Peyton Cramer were thinking of how they could sell more GT-350s. Cramer came up with the idea of pitching the GT-350 to Hertz, because Hertz had a "Sports Car Club" where members could rent Corvettes. Cramer also found out that when Hertz was started in the 1920s, Hertz's fleet consisted of all black and gold cars. So they made a GT-350H prototype painted black & gold and took it to Hertz, hoping Hertz would buy 50 - 100 GT-350s. Hertz loved the idea and ordered 1000 of them. In 1966, 2380 GT-350s were sold of which 936 of them were Hertz cars.

Has is dawned on anyone besides me that since the rumored production quantity is only 200, it uses the CS6 hood and these spy photos are from Las Vegas, where Shelby is located, that the GT-350H is being done by Shelby and not Ford?

Who would have guessed that the GT-350H is a real Shelby while the GT-500 is not.

thats just someone's personal car, that there taking photos off........that is by no means, a "photoshoot"

i have had people stop by and look at my car when i was trying to get some "good" pics outside

I agree with you, the point I'm making is that I belive Shelby will be modifying regular Mustang GTs for Hertz and making them GT-350Hs.

Ford will not be making a GT-350H special edition. :notnice:

HERTZ will most likely sell these vehicles through their HERTZ CAR SALES locations in the bigger cities such as LosAngeles, CALIFORNIA. Remember these cars will have battle scars on them, so you will have to replace things like front and rear bumpers, possible carpet, and driver side wheels which get torn up in the wash rack!!! I hope they have a Special Shelby Badge!!! I will let you know when info becomes available.

Besides the cosmetic battle scars, don't forget the big things you'll have to repair / replace on those used GT-350Hs, like the clutch (or the entire trannie on the automatics), rear ends (the Traction Lock clutches will probably be blown out), Most of the front end parts will be garbage (from those guys who rent Hertz cars and go curb riding), the wheels will be bent (curb riding ya' know), brakes will be garbage and I'm sure the the engines will have taken more red line hits than John Force's Mustang funny car.

It would be a better deal for you to turn your own Mustang in to a GT-350H. Since old Shelby will do anything for a buck, I'd imagine Shelby will make and sell a GT-350H to anyone and everyone who coughs up the $$.

I sit just me, or does the front bumper on the GT-H look just like the new fornt on the GT-CS? And the hood is definitely the CS6 hood. With the Power pack and Handling pack, should be a pretty nice performing car. Think I'm going to get my name on the list at Hertz here in LV to rent it for a couple days when they finally get one in.

It'll be a little pick-me-up while I'm wainting on my '07. :)
Maybe I'll take it to Drive while I have it. Especially since that's free for locals, at least this month. :)

JAY---They had one at the LASVEGAS airport at HERTZ location about 10 days ago. My boss showed me pics of the photo shoot!!!! Go by and ask for STATION MANAGER at HERTZ and see when they will receive these SHELBY'S......I will find out at my location in ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. and post for you.......

oh what the heck

Well I called Hertz yesterday and I made a reservation for one of the Shelbys in June at the location at The San Francisco Airport I live about and hour and a half away. The woman I spoke with said that it was the only location that had any info on it and they are all booked up in May when the car comes in. I already have an 05 with my own mods. So I'll see if this Shelby is anything special. The price quoted to me was 53 dollars and change a day with a Costco membership I reserved it for 2 days.
