I am going to buy H&R Sport springs (1.25 front, 1.0 rear) and I am not sure which shocks to get. I know Bilsteins are the best around but do I really need to spend the money? Are Tokico's decent? I would rather not spend $200 more on bilsteins. A stiff ride is not that big a deal to me. I really don't drive the car much but I don't wan't it to feel bouncy like I have KYB's on the car. I just want to make sure Tokico's are decent and will ride nice. I know I kind of rambled on there but any input would help. Thanks.

tokicos will bejust fine for your app.. bilsteins are junk.. just my experiance with them.. i have had nothing but problems with them.. from cars shocks n struts or bilstein coilovers for trucks.. they end up leaking, and after they start leaking its hell to get them warrantied..

if you want to get something better then tokico, go with koni reds.. and if you adjustable go koni yellow.. but if your car is basically a street car.. save the money and get the tokico

You need to make sure that whatever shocks and struts you choose are matched to the springs. This is important. I suggest calling Maximum Motorsports and talking with them about which struts/shocks work well with the H&R sports.

Bilstein’s are the way to go. I have them and aggressively auto-x my car and they are great dampers. I paid 490 from www.shox.com. Worth it IMO since replacing shocks and struts is a rare event. I had KYB’s and they sucked for racing, good for a stock replacement. Do it right or do it twice. If they were crap, MM would not use them almost exclusively. I have a lot of MM stuff along with Griggs stuff, and MM stuff fit and finish and durability blows every other manufacturer out of the water. I would be hesitant to not trust MM. I have had a Griggs Panhard bar break from racing, and I had to have it re-welded at the seams it broke and re mocked up to an 8.8. I have also seen a front control arm break as well as a torque arm also made by griggs. I have never seen or even heard of MM stuff breaking. That is good enough for me. Tokico is an ok shock/strut combo, but far from great.

5lugfoxfanatic - Thanks for the info but the most I ever do with my car is drive it down the highway and around town on nice weekends. Do you still think I need Bilsteins for this?

Also, I did look at MM defore they changed their web page and they had a write up that said Tokicos work well with H&R Sports.

I have kyb's now with the stock springs and they are hard as a rock :( I also had kyb's on my last car with a 1.5 drop and they did not hold up well at all. I think I am going to try the Tokicos and hope for the best. Thanks for all the info :)
