well as the title says i talked to my engine builder the other day.. I asked him what i could do with $3500 for parts and install, he said if i could do $5k he could build me a really stout bottom end, with forged h-beams, cube it out a little more, im guessing to a 331 or 347, and he said he thinks he can get these aluminum heads for it from australia... have u guys heard of these heads, he said they are really good, basically the only thing is they dont hold the price that name brand heads have.. but with this build, i dont think too much would be there for numbers, would i even be hitting 300whp..?? i mean keeping it mind this has to be emissions legal..
thanks guys!

A good hci combo on a 302 can hit the 300 mark easily. With a 331 or 347, that would jump to maybe 330-360 I would guess. I don't know which heads he speaks of.

The TF h/c/i kit is 2k, supporting mods add 1k (injs, pump, lifters, rockers, Tuner/tune & misc BS), bore/stroke bottom end with all forged guts add 1.2k and 800 for r/r motor and parts, machine work and reinstall. That's a good deal. As long as you get forged guts. Not necessary to go w/ a forged crank as long as it's at least nodular iron for your setup. Add more $$$ for forged crank if you plan to add boost.

well when u use a 347, dont u need to use diff. heads? i thought i read that somewhere, because of clearance issues maybe?? like I need this car to be emissions legal but i would like to see like 500whp, i just dont know what parts combo would get me there. And if u guys could suggest these parts to me, then i can let him know, and he could order them for me..

Technically, no - uses the same heads. The only difference between a 302 and 347 is the stroke length. IOW the piston goes down the cylinder farther. The flow of 302 heads might not be enough for a 347, but that is a different consideration.

I believe that you are thinking of a 351 and the intake. The (lower) intake needs to be wider since on a 351 the deck is taller, and the heads sit higher, and thus farther apart. A 351 can use the same heads as a 302 as long as the bolt holes can fit a 1/2" bolt (some do, some don't). Of course, the flow is a consideration here, too.
