Hey guys, i just picked up a 95 gt vert and the mods are as followed
flowmaster exhaust
bbk off road h pipe
bbk long tube headers
bbk fender well intake
under drive pulleys
shorter belt mius the ac
and 4.10's

but the guy told me that the previous owner installed either a b303 or an e303 cam and was wondering how i can tell which one i have????? The car to me soud slike the lope is stock so is eaither one of those cams sounds close to stock??? also will either one of those cams hurt performance because the engine is basicly stock????

e cam doesn't sound close to stock, the lsa is quite a bit different, at least noticably different. The b cam has a closer lsa to the stock, if i remember correctly, even if the #'s seem wilder on the lift.
Both cams will be fine with your combo, but the lsa on the e cam isn't ideal for a blower, just for future reference.

i agree....a bcam has a lift of .480" lift while an ecam has a .498" lift...a stock cam has a .420" lift (i think)....i know a stock cobra cam has a .440" lift....if you had an e303 cam you would hear it just idling with your exhaust.....if you hear a little lobe then i think you might have a bcam....

Uhh, Guys IIRC a b cam has an LSA of 108 and the E is a 110, the B cams I've heard actually lope slightly harder than an E due to the lobe sep.

F cam actuallyhas the mildest lsa of the alphabet cams (112) even though the lift is higher (.512).

E is better for a blower than a B

Either way, either cam should lope hard enough to hear, unless your idle is at like 950 or the car has a tune to smooth it out a lot. An E cam can be smoothed quite a bit at an 800 RPM Idle.

Stock Cobra cam was more like .479 stock, and I know a GT cam is .444 stock.

Why not just get a dial indicator and either rig up a mount or buy a mount and know for sure ;)

No matter if you buy a mount or rig one yourself ...............

di's are one of those tools that are good to have around. Calipers, & snap guages, like the di, are also basic tools that can be so handy when you are working on the Stang.

They can be found for pretty cheap at places like Harbor Frieght.

You don't have to get a really accurate tool (expensive) :nono:
just for all around general stuff
cause
its not like you're a Pro putting together motors for a living :)

anyway ...... just a thought :D

Guys, the B303 is a more radical cam with regards to duration than the E303 and hence has a lopeier idle than the E303. The idle is attributed to duration and not lift or stock 93-95 cobras would sound like hey have a cam with the .479 lift (with the 1.7s).

Yeah what he says. My brother had a Bcam in an 86 GT and you knew he had a cam - much lopier than the E-Cam for sure. The LSA is I think 110.

sorry, i got my stock 5.0 cam and cobra cam lift mixed up...but i had an e303 cam in my 92 5.0 and you could feel the hp and hear it, not sure about the sound from a b303 cam, but the e cam i had you could really tell, especially with my mac shorty equal length headers with a custom 2-1/2" offroad xpipe w/flows that was pro-dumped...:D

Where does your power kick in at? My motor supposedly has an e303 and I don't start making power until around 2300rpm

I really begin to feel the power at 3000, FRPP says peak torque is 3300 RPM, peak HP is 5100 RPM which is about what I feel with the old SOTP meter.

Regarding idle being lumpy or lopey, ford classifies the E-303 as good idle while classifying the B-303, F-303, and X-303 cams as fair idle quality.

Where does you car have its idle set? My car idles a 650 RPM and really sounds like it has a cam...no vacuum leaks at all either! :D
Tim

After fixing a vacuum leak (or three), and doing a complete tune up I can hear my cam .. idling at around 650-700 RPM has a nice lope...nothing too serious, but its there, and it sounds great!! :D

My best torque seems to be from 2100 RPM and up with a nice kick at around 3200 RPM and massive power over 4K RPM.

Just ask the guy in the teal green 92 Vette 6 speed that I embarrassed tonight ;-)
