does anyone know of one thats made?

where can i find this at?

i'd like one for my new intake i am building. I have currently the good ol redneck pvc intake made outta 3'' pipeing, but i have access to free 3'' mandrel bent aluminum, and i'd like to find a 3'' maf sensor to put on my intake, or else is there a way i can just remove the sensor of the 2'' housing it is in currently and somehow rig it into this piping?

well i have a 90mm lightning MAF(im using for my car) thats about as close as your gonna get. but without new fuel maps and wiring its not gonna work(i.e not plug and play). you cant just take the core out of a 2" maf and plug it into a 3" pipe...they are calibrated for pipe diameter and distance...so it wouldnt run very good.

You'll open a whole can of worms by trying to swap to a larger maf...just use the stock one and a silicone adapter to get it up to 3".

A adapter takes you from one size to another. for example you could run a 3" intake and with the right silicone adapter you could go into the 2"maf...kool??

oh...well then i got one of those i made outta pvc pipe...was kinda tricky, but i fabbed up something that let the 2" maf fit my 3" pvc pipe intake, but i still want a 3" maf, so as to have a solid 3" intake all the way through.


my question is what all do i need to get a 3" intake and what all is required to make it run right?

Oh and I meant to add.. since you haven't said anything about a turbo, I'm assuming it's an N/A engine. You'll totally, absolutely be wasting your money on a 3" MAF sensor and the proper "calibrations" that go along with it. It would take a *LOT* of work before an N/A engine could ever need a MAF that big. Put your money into something that will make a difference like a cam, header, and ported head. If this is a turbo engine, still, why bother with a MAF? I'm not trying to be harsh, but really, don't waste your money. It'll only cause you problems for no gains in the end.

Don't even waste your money on that (at least a header and full exhaust). I speak from full experience. Just a waste of money.

I offer this info as is. I have a 94 taurus in the front yard that I am parting out. I pulled the maf and it was a little bigger, and the sensor is less restrictive. I had to mangle my connector to get it to plug in (I recommend rewiring the harness leads to the taurus connector, which I was gonna do but wont need to now because the maf will be gone in light of the VAM that is coming with the t-bird) it worked on MY car, with MY setup. It's definatley not 3", and it's not that big a restriction loss, but it did seem to give my car a little boost. FYI, 30 minutes after I did this, my car stopped running. I changed the fuel injectors on a hunch, and it was perfect again, so I am assuming the failure was entirely un-related. I did however encounter a most likely un-related failure a few days later. I highly doubt that the maf swap caused these problems, as they where present with or with out it during my testing phase. Still, I present this to you at your own risk. I feel like it was worth it because I am confident it didn't affect those other things. If the thought of what happened to me shortly after scares you, don't do it, cause it's not that big a gain. But still, if it bugs you to death, and you just have to upgrade your maf, I think this will work without fuel re-mapping and such. But as I said, my setup is pretty radical based against what most people would do.
(P.S., my real problems started after water got into my engine through my non-filtered ram-air.

Was running is more like it. Get this, three months of drought, I installed ram-air, three days of pooring rain. I installed an air cleaner the day it first happened, but it was too late. That's what I get for trying to add power. Other than that though, it was a great mod that worked flawlessly. Until water got in.
