First of the car has a systemax upper, 70mm TB, edelbrock TB adapter, 70mm Mass air, exhaust and some other stuff. car starts up fine and is drivable.

ok i am still having problems with my idle, it idles at 2000 rpm except when you first start it, it idles at 1500 rpms (clutch in or out). I took the upper off and replaced all gaskets (TB, EGR, IAC, etc..). I found no vacum leaks. However the pcv valve was completely open, basically there was a hose coming out of the pcv valve and there was a T fitting at the end of it. Both sides of the T fitting were open. So i capped off both sides, didnt help. The idle screw is backed out all the way or else it would idle higher. I cleaned everything with carb/TB cleaner (TB, IAC, etc..), didnt help. I tried resetting base idle, did not work. We now think it could be that the timing is way off.

Any ideas of what else could be wrong? Any hoses that commonly become disconnected that i could have missed? Should i replace the Idle motor thing? What should the PCV be connected to?

I haven checked the codes yet but i will this weekend....

any thoughts would be great, i have been slacking but now i really need to fix this..

thanks

Um, one of the ends of the "T" fitting should connect to a hose that runs from under the intake manifold. You capped-off the end that has no vacuum applied to it, and I would bet that there is an open line hanging from under your intake. Have another look under there, as a vacuum leak like that will couse the symptoms you are experiencing.

Block off the IAC valve air ports and see if the idle returns to normal. If it does, your IAC valve is stuck open, or the computer is opening it too far (highly doubtful). Get the borgwarner part from pep boys or wherever.

The systemax intake has no port that i can find...thats the first thing i looked for. It has one that is right under where the TB adapter attaches but it has a hose running to the lower intake manifold.

I will try blocking off the IAC and i will take another look at the upper manifold just incase i missed something.

thanks for the input

Did you ever go to wide open throttle when it was idling like that? because when mine was doing that same thing, if I gunned it in first gear all the way to 5k, then let off, the idle problem went away and wouldn't come back until I shutdown and restarted the car. Very strange.
