G-Force T-5 Tranny Problem.... Tranny people I need advice!!

Well I've had the tranny for about a year and a half now and had the driveshaft out about 5 times since than. Since the tranny was new, I had a problem installing the yoke of the driveshaft into the back of the tranny. Took a couple times to get it to slide all the way on and had bad vibrations at 55mph. So I took the driveshaft back out and stuck it back in a diff way (again it took a couple times fighting resistance) and my vibrations went away. Now the past 4 times I had the driveshaft out I had to try about 10 different ways to get the driveshaft in and even when I do get it in, I have a constant vibration at 55mph no matter what gear i am in.

I ruled everything out and led the problem to be the tranny since I have been told by numerous people that there should be no resistance putting the yoke into the tranny like i am having. I called G-Force and they told me they have heard of this but are unsure of the vibration possibly saying the lower mainshaft is bent. They understood there is no way i could have caused this being I only have 400rwhp and it's 99.9% street driven.

Anyone know what this could be? I'd rather not have to send it back to G-Force in a crate but it might happen. Has anyone ever seen a lower mainshaft bend and cause vibrations? Again I think this happened before I even put it in my car. I plan on ripping it out this weekend and deciding what to do with it.

Mine does the same thing :(

Wow, do you have vibrations also at higher speeds? G-Force seems to be well aware of the problem and hopefully will take care of it without much hassle.

I ran my car 5th without the driveshaft out as a test and I got 0 vibrations at 55mph. I think the problem is when I am installing the driveshaft it is throwing something inside out of balance and I get the vibration from the trans. Also the mainshaft is not bent since it does not wobble at all even doing 100mph on a lift with the driveshaft out of it.

Looks like I will be talking to them tomorrow to see what they say and will most likely be crating it up to be sent back to them for some investigation. I also plan on sending them my stock yoke also so they can make sure it will slide into the tranny at their shop instead of me finding it out when i get it.

I'll keep this thread updated.

Welp... basically they said they are FULLY aware of this problem and I should be able to fix it myself before sending it in for service. What happens is because I got the upgraded "heat-treated" mainshaft, it expands when put through this process. This tightens the clearence between the mainshaft and the bushing which will make the yoke installation a "tight" fit.

Solution:

Take the yoke, intall it on the splines and push it into the tranny until it starts getting resistance, take a rubber mallet and hit it into the tranny with a good amount of force. This will remove any "burrs" which are holding the yoke from sliding in and should make some extra clearance. I plan on having my father try this for me tomorrow. I will report back!!

thats funny, because thats what i ended up doing!

I'd like to know this and if it caused a vibration?

Answer our questions Modular2V!!!
Sorry for not getting back to you guys....Yes it worked. . . . slid right in. Actually the vibrations stopped after i did this lol. But i also changed the U joints out. It will still vibrate intermentantly though. I think this might be because of my spool though:shrug:

I have two stock driveshafts I am using to lessen the chance of it being the driveshaft. A nice new one balanced would be nice tho but I'd rather not spend the money if I dont have to, hopefully this fixes my problem.

Good to hear and hopefully I will report back with the same experience you had.
