I'm against any Ford new Mustang with a Shelby name. IMO, the new GT500 should be wearing SVT badges. Those people worked hard on developing that car, and Shelby slaps his name on it and gets a check from Ford. That's :bs: !!!:notnice:

At least Don Yenko died before he could whore his name out. Not saying I wish Shelby was dead; but he had his place in the Mustangs history at it should've ended in '67(Ford took over in '68). Steve Saleen customizes the cars in his own shop. If Ford's just gonna slap people's names on cars THEY BUILD as packages, where's the Bob Tasca Fusion or Don Garlits Montego. Sounds stupid, doesn't it?:nonono:

This reminds me of the Shinoda group now that they seem more of a decal company, lol. How you gonna NOT increase performance for true enthusiasts? They could give some kind of incentive, you know? At least Ford is not abusing the "Boss" name ...... YET.

I think it was a good move by Ford. They are sucking wind and the mustang is one of the few things that is going right for ford. Although reception by diehard mustang enthusiests has been mediocre, the general public can't get enough of the mustang. Dodge hit a homerun with reintroducing the "Hemi" label even though out of the box those cars make the portly GT500 looks anorexic. It is all about sales.

I think it was a good move. The older baby boomers who grew up with the muscle cars & Shelby will eat this up, the ones who cannot afford the GT500. It is a good way to hype up the cars.
I think the Califonia Special will be a good seller also.

I'd like to save judgement on it until I knew exactly what they changed on it. I will admit the looks are lacking to me. I think its bull that every 2nd car ordered must be an auto. BOO!

i was thinking the same thing. i can't really say whether i think its a good or bad move. it's both to me. if it helps them boost sales then it was worth it. i would never buy one, but out of the box its probably a good start to a faster mustang.

i dont like it and the gt/cs sucks too. i would just stick with a gt if i were to ever buy an 05-07. i dont know though i sat in one and i felt all cramped in the drivers seat and it turned me against them. they look alright, it was a big hype when they first came out but i dont know im over that fade i like the 94-98, and the 99-04 a lot better i dont think ford put out a good looking car since the mach 1.....thats not an svt vehicle right? haha

Good point. It just sucks that Ford has to stoop this low. They've built some awesome concept cars, but their production cars are just boring. Ford has some awesome engineers like the ones that built the 351 V10 Mustang, and the One Lap Crown Vic. Too bad their bosses are a bunch of retards.

25FWhp is not worth $2g for me.

I think 94Cobrapace put it best by saying that it's for the Babyboomers.
They're not the brightest bunch; this the generation that was pissed to find out tv game shows were rigged, they believed Ralph Nader when he attacked the Corvair, and later bought into the Pinto accusations without knowing the facts.
If anyone is dumb enough to pay $2,000 for Shelby badges, it's them.

I think some of you guys are missing the point on this one

First off, Ford isn't modifying this, Shelby is...There's no way Ford would be able to do something like this in house. Ford produces GTs, Shelby modifies them and gets them out on the market (with the help of Ford dealerships obviously)...this is the same way it used to work back in the sixties.

Secondly, this is being offered because there's a lot of people that can't own a GT500, but like the status of the Shelby. There's nothing wrong with that. It's a sound economic move, and you would do the same thing if you were in their place.

Third, It's not just 25 more horsepower, there's a decent amount of suspension modifications also done. New springs, new shocks and struts, added swaybar. Plus 18inch rims, a new exhaust and x pipe, and higher rear end gears. Doesn't add to performance, but there's also a new front fascia.

I'd pay another $2000 for it

Anyone that thinks that Carrol Shelby is greedy and is only in it for the money is sadly mistaken. He has all the money he needs...something tells me he just likes cars. Do you seriously think, at his age, that all he wants is money...I seriously doubt it.

This is a solid move, and it's a sexy car.
