I think some of you guys are missing the point on this one
First off, Ford isn't modifying this, Shelby is...There's no way Ford would be able to do something like this in house. Ford produces GTs, Shelby modifies them and gets them out on the market (with the help of Ford dealerships obviously)...this is the same way it used to work back in the sixties.
Secondly, this is being offered because there's a lot of people that can't own a GT500, but like the status of the Shelby. There's nothing wrong with that. It's a sound economic move, and you would do the same thing if you were in their place.
Third, It's not just 25 more horsepower, there's a decent amount of
suspension modifications also done. New springs, new shocks and struts, added swaybar. Plus 18inch rims, a new exhaust and x pipe, and higher rear end gears. Doesn't add to performance, but there's also a new front fascia.
I'd pay another $2000 for it
Anyone that thinks that Carrol Shelby is greedy and is only in it for the money is sadly mistaken. He has all the money he needs...something tells me he just likes cars. Do you seriously think, at his age, that all he wants is money...I seriously doubt it.
This is a solid move, and it's a sexy car.
