Well, first off, I ran the car 8 times. On the last run, I went to shift into 4th and accidentally threw it into 2nd at 90mph. The transmission accepted it...and I barely let the clutch out and I felt it jerk two times then I realized what happened and pushed the clutch in and coasted.

So I let it cool down for about 2 hours. Then the drive home was fine. Then I drove to Arlington. That was all fine until I got to my grandparents house. The car was off for a total of 10 minutes maybe. When I started it up, it started whining kind of. So I just drove it back to my girlfriends house and let it sit overnight. When I started it up, I could hear it whining again. This was without the clutch pressed in. If I ever so slightly touched it, the whining would vary. Higher, lower, higher, lower.

It sounded to me like it was coming from the transmission. Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone know what it might be?

I do know that my clutch sucks because when I was running it down the track, I slam it into gear (and I mean SLAM, I love my new MGW shifter :D) and it grinds a little, less than 2/10ths of a second. You can just hear it grind and then grab.

I was planning on rebuilding the suspension next, but if I need to get a new clutch, or whatever, I'll do that first.

P.S. I don't notice any difference in performance. It doesn't feel any different when driving. The only thing it's doing is making that noise.

I'd be concerned if it didn't. Going from 3rd to second at 90mph it should have cut out. If it didn't, and over revved you may be looking at more problems.

As far as the sound you have, if it goes away when you depress the clutch then it is probably a noisy TOB. Soem lithium grease should quiet it down.

I didn't let the clutch out all the way...just enough to feel that it wasn't right. I don't think the motor rev'd high enough. I've done it before, just not as drastic.

Good...I can't say I have been so lucky. I'm sure I've shortened the life of my engine but at 170K+ miles I can't complain. It still runs well even though it goes through a quart every 2K miles.

I've got ya beat :p! Mine's got roughly 225k on it now. Runs every well...but goes through a quart about every week.

Dangit. I gotta fix that leak! :( It didn't leak out any at the track that I know of!!!

When I put my spec stage II clutch in the Throw out bearing started chirping about 50 miles from install so I replaced it with a new Ford one and over 1,500 miles later its still like new and I have really let it have it on some launches. If they get tweaked in just the slightest bit for some reason they like to chirp. You could try greasing it but its a pita to get in there and do that. I just replace them or deal with the annoying chirp till I get a new clutch

Sorry to ruin your happy moment but nope (especially with your trap speeds :jester: ).... I only aborted 2 runs, one was against a 04 White GT and the other was against this Bronco but I was so far ahead anyways I still netted a better ET:

What does this mean?

This is actually pretty common when guys are pulling down to hit 4th and pull it into 2nd instead. Hot spots are just little spots that can be glazed over on the flywheel friction surface or the clutch disc. But, it may not be hotspotted at all since I haven't seen your clutch. If it feels like it is grabbing OK under load, and the clutch pedal travel feels normal, you are probably fine.
