07 vette vs 07 porsche turbo awd *BONE STOCK*

I have been impressed for the past few years with the Corvette. For about $70k, you get a car that will eat the lunch of most "upscale" European performance cars that cost upwards of $250k. With about $40k in mods, it will spank ones that are even twice that. I've always maintained that Ford needs to bring back the Thunderbird, in a format that will compete head to head with the Corvette. That would be AWESOME! (And good for both manufacturers.)

Make sure you keep a correct configuration of fingers so that you can shift and steer at the same time. :nice: (You'll never miss the nut or the kidney. ) It would suck to have a sweet a$$ Vette and have to have it in automatic. :nonono:

GM has been doing sports cars pretty nice since the mid 90's IMO. Compared to ford anyways. The 03-04 Cobra's are nice but even the 2002 GT won't hang with my brothers 1993 z28 6 speed.

Just think...the vette is still using a pushrod v8. Get pretty damn good gas mileage also.

Oh deffinetly. I don't disrespect camaro/firebird/corvette owners, actually 2 of my good friends are camaro owners and I can talk cars to them just as well as with any of you guys without getting into childish arguments. Their cars (stock) are easily capable of smoking our cars (stock). My only complaint about the F-bodies is that they are a bit heavy compared to an sn95 mustang. Around 3800lbs IIRC? The 'vette on the other hand, wow.... just incredible.

This probably getting off-topic, but I just thought of something that I've been wondering all my life. What makes the Chevy V8 sound so different to the Ford V8? Is it the different firing order or the placement of the valves that give it different combustion chamber dynamics? I dunno, you'd think they would sound almost the same, but most car guys can distinguish a chevy from a ford from a miles away without even seeing the car, just by sound.

BTW the Ford sound is so much better :D

+1

The Z06 is a fine piece of machinery, and certainly much nicer than the previous generations...but it is no Porsche (anyone who has had a ride in a 911 turbo and a Z06 should understand what I mean)

would you take it for 50 or so more thousand dollars is the question...

hell you could have 2 cars for hte price of some of those porsches

they really need porsches with v8's... how badass would that be

I like the sound of the ford exhaust over the chevy for some reason.. the chevy's sound like garbage disposals

Definitely a good point...I hope that if I had the money for a Z06 I would also have the money for a porsche...but that's not necessarily the truth.

and yes...it would be sweet if they put the cayenne V8 into a carrera

Porsche has used V8s for quite a while. 1n 1987 the 928 had a 5.0 DOHC engine producing 306hp. They then upgraded in 1991-92 to a 5.4l DOHC (350+hp)

The fastest car I've ever been in was a 911 turbo. It was sick.

That being said, I don't want a porsche because the 35000 dollar porsche looks almost the same as the 135000 dollar porsche.

The Corvette Z06 is a prettier and more distinctive car.

Its a bitch to work on the damn motor because everything is so tight in the firebird/camaros.

I can't see working on a rear-engine flat-4 being any easier  You can't even really see the engine in a Porshe unless you put it on a hoist.

The only Porshe I find really appealing is the Carrera GT, but who can afford one of those...
With more bang for the buck and tons of sex appeal the Z06 would deffinetly be my choice, no question.
