I got a spec 3+ in my car and with that came wheel hop like never before. I was back to using my BFG DRs because my MT DRs were worn out.

I bought some bushings, but thought I would try Mickey Thompson ET Streets first and see how much they along with the QA1s and Snubber I already have help the problem.

Who's got MT Street ETs? What do you think? Will they help hop along with what I already have?

I wanted to go to the track today with my totally worn out MT DRag radials but the mechanic that just put in a wheel bearing for me last week torqued a lug nut on so tight that he distorted the outside cover on the lug and a 21mm socket wouldnt fit over it. It took a 22mm socket and a hammer to finally get it lose...then the cover/shell broke off and I could use a 13/16 socket to get it off...by that time it was too late to get to the track! I a little worried about what he torqued the axle to when he replaced the bearing.

That sucks about the over torquing. As far as the M/T's. They should help more now that you have the other new parts. One friend of mine has a 10 second 90 GT with a 351W and a tremec, and that car has no wheel hop at all, but that is with a solid axle. Those tires really hooks his car up.

Another friend has an 03 GT vert with a 5speed. He has a 4.10 with all 31 spline stuff and a fully built TR3650. Other that that it is stock and he runs 13.7's-13.8's with the M/T's. He dumps it at 5K and it pulls 1.5's 60ft times. They really hook!!!

wow

Well they hook alright. I finally got a better 60 ft 1.76 on my third try. I think I spun them on that run, but NO HOP. I am sure I can easily get into the 1.6s again with these tires if not 1.5s.

They definetely hook better than drag radials.

Actually I thought I only spun one of them on the burnout on my last run...another problem with my car...brand new ford rear is in the car...just happens if you dont pop the clutch hard enough.

The first two runs I bogged so bad that I ran lousy 60fts but no hop.

I got scared on the first run because the car was all over the place. I made the mistake of steering the car a little and then it just kept going side to side...floating. because of the tires they feel weird and take some getting used to.

I added 1lb in each tire and concentrated on not touching the steering wheel and was ok on my other runs.

I didnt drive to the track with them on but I drove home with them at 25lbs and the car felt fine up to 55mph.

Yeah, launching the terminators is tricky. I have read many threads on that. They sure are mean cars though!!

25lbs is enough for the ride home. I left the track with 15lbs in my rears. By the time I got home, they were up to about 26-28psi. It was a hot day so they expanded like crazy.

Do you still have IRS,...I take it??

..

yeah still have the stupid IRS LOL!

SHould my pinion snubber be able to move when I grab it with my hand? I was checking the suspension and diff tonight and noticed that the pinion snubber moved pretty easily when I tugged on it. I didnt try to tighten the two bolts yet that hold it on. I might call JDM and ask them since they installed it for me.

My ET Streets already have only the two outside lines showing? IS THAT NORMAL?
I did slightly longer burnouts 1sta dn 2nd runs then short on my third. NOthing NHRA style though becuase I want to make them last and I know MT says short burnout is all that is needed. I took off the tires tonight to put on my street tires and noticed lines in the ets treets already gone.

Never worked on IRS, but lots of solids. All the pinion snubbers on those were tight, I suppose yours should be too, that way it is centered when/if if bottoms out.

Yeah, the outside lines will show longer than the two inside lines. This is normal due to burnouts/tire spinning. They wear in the middle first because the tires expand in the center. You may deflate them a few pounds to get a longer life, but they are designed to wear out within 3,000 miles of "normal" driving. I have had friends who roasted pairs in one trip to the strip.....I don't have money to spend on tires every trip. I try and get 3 summers out of Nitto's and thats with trips to the track.....

..

im amazed how few people on the net have actually raced with these tires. AT the track I see many people with MT ET STREETS online all anyone used is radials.

I still havent been back but I cant wait to get back and try them again.

They seem to be holding air well. I finally got backto the garage today to see my car and they werent low on air after two weeks like everyone said...maybe that has something to do with this size being tubeless. Everyone said they would still gradually lose air though.
