hey guys, I'm getting down to the real end of the project here, but I've hit a couple snags with my water pump bolts/pulley. 1st, my old water pump bolts down thread into the new edelbrock water pump pulley threads. I dont have a chase kit, but looking at the bolts they look pretty beaten up and the threads are def. not perfectly straight/true. I called NPD and looked online a ton at other vendors, and cant find the 4 water pump bolts. Can someone point me in a right direction, or tell me the pitch/length/diameter of the bolts so I can make sure the ones I have are right? Also, are they hardware store type of bolts?
Finally, what did you guys torque your bolts to?
Sorry for having to make this thread, but I simply cant find the info, and i searched.

Sorry. Aren't they the bolts that go thru the cooling fan and also mount the pulley? If so, you can find them in catalogues under "fan mounting bolts". NPD has concourse correct bolts while others sell generic ones.

if I am not mistaken, there are four bolts that go through the fan, then the spacer, then the pulley; and hold it all to the water pump -- if that is what you are asking. I believe the four bolts are on page 76 of the 2007 NPD catalog -- called "Mounting Kit, fan, concours" Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yep. thats What I'm looking for. I couldn't find them in the NPD online catalog, and I asked the salesmen on the phone about it. he said "Yep, I've been asked about them before, and we dont carry them". ?? Evidently I got some wrong info. I tried to make it clear to him that I didnt want the bolts to mount the water pump, but the bolts to mount the fan/WP pulley.

mystery solved. NPD is great but I sometimes wonder how all reps can be that familar with all of the different cars and platforms they support. Good luck with the remainder of your build.... must feel good to be getting to the end.

Yeah it's awsome that I'm at the end..its not awsome that theres all these little snags holding me down. Edelbrocks pitch in the water pump threads should be the same as the stock fan bolts correct? It seems silly to me if they were different...

they should be 5/16 fine thread... unless you have some imported waterpump with metric threads on it, but i used 5/16 fine, 1' long, as i dont have a fan spacer, and they work perfectly.if you have a spacer, figure the length of that, and add a half to three quaters of an inch for the fan, pully, etc, that should get you in the ballpark.

Did you already mount up the water pump? if not just take it with you to the hardware store and find the right bolt to fit. I ended up using a bunch of hardware store bolts on my engine build. It will probably cost you less then $1.00

Yep, the engine is already in the car, with the water pump mounted. The problem with the car was that I was given a can full of bolts from the previous owner. Instead of just bagging the bolts with ID's on them, I instead have to shift through them till I find the right ones. The ones which were used for the water pump bolts definitly were M8-1.00. Although I think they must have been cross threaded, as there is no way the thread should look as beat up as they do. Guess its another thrip back to the hardware store to find some 5/16 fine threads.

i put on a 94-95 T-cover and water pump and picked up some 8x1.0 mm and they didnt work either. I tried a 5/16 fine and it woudn.t start . I tried the 8x1.0 mm in my 84 pump which threads looked the same . It went in but threads looked damaged when i pulled it out . I too am wondering which bolt is right.

just went in garage and tried this -- 5/16 fine it is . My A has these and i tried one and it worked fine. Other fine i tried must have been a metric mixed in .
