07 5spd GT Getting 15mpg

Hi guys, I have an 07 GT 5spd with MSD ignition, MMR CAI, JBA Shortys, Magnaflow X-pipe & catback, SCT Tuner w/ Brenspeed 93 Octane tune and 3.55's. I'm getting about 15mpg. Does that sound right to anyone? I dont drive it like a granny and am never in 5th gear but all these mods were said to get better gas mileage. I hear people getting 20mpg+ with similar mods. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds about right. I get less than you. I avg around 13-14 in the city.

I get about 20-22 mpg combined highway and city, but I am stock and get into 5th often just not for very long. I have to do alot of city driving to get below 18 mpg and I grab a spirited start from every light or onto every on ramp during my few miles on the interstate. Do you guys see increased or decreased gas mileage with a 93 race tune?

For city mileage, which sounds like what you're doing, thats probably about right. Check what you get on the highway sometime, you should be somewhere int he low to mid 20s.

My milage varies from tank to tank. Some tanks I get 14-15 others I average 19-20....I guess its just my driving style.

Where and how you drive affects the MPG big time on these cars. My '06 is bone stock. I've seen as little as 14MPG (mostly city) out of a tank to as high as 23MPG (700 mile road trip , all interstate, cruising between 75-80).

I do a lot of city driving, I only take the freeway on the way to work, even then sometimes i take the streets. On one tank i drove like a granny, shifting at 2k, being in 5th at 45mph. i got 19.5mpg, (which seams low to me) the next tank i drove like a mad man, never using fift until i got to 85mph. i got 15. My car is bone stock.

My '06 is bone stock right now and I have gotten an average of 23 mpg over the several fill-ups I have done in the last month I've had it. I don't drive like a granny, but I do get it into 5th as often as possible.

I am hoping to see a further increase with my soon-to-be-installed Pypes mid-muffler catback, C&L racer intake & Brenspeed tunes via an SCT XCal2.

all stock i have gotten anything for 5 mpg (140mph) to 29 mpg (60mph cruise control) in town i usually get 16 mpg no matter how i drive. almost forgot mine is automatic.

i average 16mpg city and about 19mpg highway.....sometimes i drive with a lead foot, others i drive like a granny. it all depends on the day. this is in a 2006 gt 5spd with nothing but a drop in k&n.

I pretty much only drive in the city. My work is about 3-4 miles from my house.
So, I get about 13-14 mpg. I tried one week to baby it and get better mileage, but
1. It sounds like shiit to bog the motor like that.
2. It make my commute boring... really boring.
3. All that early shifting and taken it easy only raised my MPG to around 15 -16.

So, I said forget that.
Haulin Ace is the only way to do it!

Everybody here is calculating it themselves right? I surely hope you're not going by what the dash tells you... as close as it may come sometimes it's never right on the mark.

The Ford booklet in my car has ridiculous recommended shift times.

1st-2nd at 11mph
2nd-3rd at 20mph
3rd-4th at 30mph
4th-5th at 40mph


Thats not exactly what it says since I dont have it with me but thats roughly it. Its very awkward doing that when driving. I barely press the gas and I barely have time to let out the clutch before I have to change gears again....according to Ford.


Plus because of the elevation here (less hp ) there might be some MPG difference since we lose some of our pony power.

I figured you 05+ guys would get better gas mileage then that. I just got 3.73s installed in my car 2 weeks ago and calculated my gas a few days back. I drove 250 miles and it took about 11.5 gallons to fill so that would give me almost 22mpg. My foot is like a rock, it’s always to the floor. I red line her all day long and on my way to work I will keep her at 4,000 rpm for a few miles just to here her sing. With OD on and cruising at 80mph I'm at 2,800 RPM. My driving is mixed half highway and half back roads. It almost seems like I get better gas mileage with the 3.73s. The rest of my mods or in my sig. Also for the past few weeks the air temp has been 90+ and humid.

I got 26-29.5 mpg highway mileage in my 2000 Camaro Z28 6-speed. It pulled 310rwhp with just a cat-back (305rwhp stock). With a V8 in a light car a "super overdrive" is really effective at increasing efficiency (plus the Gen 3/4 GM V8's are very efficient and powerful).

That'll be one of the things (along with the convenience of a hatchback) that I will miss when I go to a Mustang!

My 68 GT with a 428 CJ, 4 speed and 3:90 gears got 11 mpg and it was only 335 hp, so I'll take 22 mpg at 300 hp, at least for now. I haven't had it on a trip yet, but I expect it to get 25 or 26 mpg.
