hey guys, i was wondering if the front mount intercooler is truly effective.

i have been reading some threads where the people are saying that the engine temps have actually increased with the intercooler due to the radiator being blocked.

that would mean that it is a total waste of money not to mention added weight to the car for nothing.

also i want to run higher boost levels so the intercooler would have to be effective for me to reach those boost levels, right?

do any of you have problems or success with the intercooler?

thankd.

Those fools are installing the IC in the wrong places. My IC has helped a TON. I logged my IAT when it 100+ degrees outside. At WOT, she logged 100^ IAT. When my car was NA, it ran 140 at IDLE when the temp was 100 outside. IC's are definitely safer for the engine. Engines don't like heat. And with a blower, your adding more load to the engine.

+1

If you are sandwiching that IC in between the bumper supportand the raditor then maybe so. There's a deflector at the bottom of the radiator support designed to deflect air up into the radiator if the IC is in the way the it won't be able to.

for cooling swap to a 04 Cobra radiator since the tanks are bigger on it and drop your thermostat down and have the fans turned on quicker in the tune.. right now Im running a 160tstat in the car with my built motor and temps with the radiator listed are not much more than 180 at the absolute highest point on a warm day.. Im also running 17degrees timing which adds more heat to the motor.

So 100+ degrees outside temperature, At WOT, she logged 100^ IAT. So your IC has 100% efficiency. This at what boost pressure? Can you post pictures of this system?

That was boosting about 9-10 pounds. Here is what I logged when it was 95-100^ outside a little while ago:
