3g alternator pulley

which pulley do I use the one from the 3g or the one fromy my 2g?

I have u/d pulleys
It's my understanding that the 2G pulley won't work on a 3G alternator unless you put a spacer behind it.

You can use the pulley that came with the 3G (which is slightly larger than the 2G pulley). You may need to use the next longer serpentine belt. Or you can by a smaller pulley for the 3G (I got one on eBay for about $12) if you want to spin your alternator up a bit for better charging.

Yes, if you are running underdrives you are going to want to go with a smaller alt pulley on the 3G.

thanks guys as I was removing my alternator i notice that the pulley is probably isnt hte aftermarket one since its blue in color. how do you measure pulley's size?
Pulley size is the diameter of the pulley at the top of the ridges, not at the outside flange. You can measure the diameter of the flange, subtract 1/4", and that'll get you close.

The stock 94 - 95, 3G alternator pulley is about 53mm (approx. 2 1/8 inches) in diameter. The pulleys that come on the aftermarket 3G alternators are about 56mm (approx. 2 3/16 inches) in diameter. I think the overdrive pulley I have on my alternator is 48mm (1 7/8 inches).
