Clutch quit on me yesterday...

So I replaced my clutch cable (30 minutes) and then my heater core (5 hours!) and I take the car for a test drive. I get a mile or so from the house and while shifting from second into third, the clutch quits. I can't get it into any gear! Ugh! I pull over and push the car into a parking lot. I walked home and got the van, jack, ratchet, etc. I pull the access cover off only to find the cable is securely connected to the fork.

Looks like I'll have to pull the whole tranny and see what's up. I started the car in gear and limped home at 15 miles per hour. At 20 it had a funny vibration. :( So I'm thinking that the throw out bearing became disconnected from the clutch fork. They don't seem to lock in there very good to begin with.

What do you guys think?

I'll be under the car streaming obsenities tomorrow morning. :bang:

the fork might have moved when you changed the cable then came off of the pivot ball you can fix this without removing the tranny

The clutch returns when I depress it, but has little resistance. With the access cover off, it didn't look like that was the case, but I wasn't looking for it either. I'll definitely have to check that. It would be really nice if that is all it is. :nice:

Also, the problem occurred as a result of me beating on the car (of course), I came out of the hole pretty solid, slammed second at about 5k rpm and then took it to about 4500 rpm when I ran out of road and had to hit third, but unfortunately, third was not to happen that day... :notnice:
