I am really considering trading my truck in for a Mustang. I like my truck a lot, but I have only used it as a truck maybe 3 times in the 2 years that I have owned it. I like driving a truck, but I dont need it.

At 12mpg and a high monthly payment, I am thinking about doing this.

One main reason that I have for considering this is saving money. My truck is almost $400 a month plus another $200 or so in gas. I have done the numbers, and found that I can save $100 or so on the payment and probably at least that on the gas. For me being broke that would help out quite a bit.

My question, how hard is it to buy a car without a down payment or with a small down payment? I would be trading the Ram in of course.

Oh yeah, the stang would be a 99-04 2v GT, but preferably an 02-04 just since its newer and likely to have less miles.

Thanks,
Joey

You should def be able to afford an 99-00 mustang gt for under 10,000, and an 01-04 would run you used between 10,000 and 14,000 for a gt. I would do it, you'll save money, and you wont ever want a truck after a stang is in your garage

shop around, don't get hosed on financing an old car for a long time, with interest. Good luck man, the 99-04 mustangs are good cars if maintained decently.

As long as u have good credit, they will finance u with not much of a down payment, but then your monthly car note will be higher. U should sell the truck outright, pay off the rest of the loan, & use whatever else u have left or saved up for a down payment. U will get way more for your truck if u sell it rather than trading it in....Good luck on your purchase....

Thanks for the advice. I have tried to sell 2 vehicles before on my own, and I had no luck with either so I have had the mindset now that its easier just to trade it in.

Of course, people around here love trucks, especially a fullsize so it may be worth a shot to try and sell it. Whats the going rate for a 01-04 GT with <50k miles?

Not sure about the going rate, maybe like 9-13k depending on the condition of the car. U should post your truck on Craigslist. Ive had pretty good luck selling a couple of my cars on there...Its worth a try at least b4 u trade it in.
