Who has KYBs or Tokicos?

Looking at new struts & shocks for my bird, probably just gonna get some '87-93 Mustang struts & shocks.

I see lots of places selling KYBs and Tokicos on ebay. Those of you that have them, what kind do you have and how do you like them?

KYB GR-2's seem too cheap to be true....Tokico HP's are pretty cheap, and KYB AGX's are pretty decent too (wouldn't mind having adjustable suspension).

i just got some tokico HP's off ebay about 2 weeks ago...something like $234 shipped for all 4 shocks and struts. don't have them on yet but they quality looks outstanding. i went with them because i researched a lot on the internet and asked on here and heard nothing but good reviews for the tokico's and i heard mixed reviews about the KYB gr-2's.

I recently installed a set of KYB AGX's on my wife's Cobra. They're excellent for what we do, which is strictly "cruising", no track use at all. On twisty mountain roads they rock.

Hm, I hear a lot of conflicting opinions about the KYB's. Course, not always from Fox Body owners.

I am leaning toward the AGX's. My bird currently has the "programmed ride control" struts & shocks on it, which set on "firm" are a bit TOO stiff for normal driving. Would be REALLY nice to have something adjustable.

BTW- how many of you guys have lowered cars...like 1.5" or so?

As soon as you change your spring from anything other than stock uncut springs the ride will become harsh with KYBs. I took them off of my car after having them on for 2 years. The AGXs are pretty decent but the GR2s are horrible. I have found even the cheap Gabriels and Monroes made my car handle better and ride better than the KYBs. My option of choice would be tociko D spec if they made them for Foxs. I would do some serious searches on every mustang forum you can find about KYBs and see how many people hate them before you buy them.

this is what i did, i recommend you do it too before you go and buy something. if you do end up going KYB, don't get the gr-2's, get the AGX's or better.

I have had the Tokico HP shocks and struts for a little over 2 years now. They ride great. A little on the stiff side, but it doesnt bounce you around.

If I had to do it again I would get an adjustable shock, like the Illumas or Koni's

I have KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks Rear, KYB GR-2 Struts Front...

The ride is really rough even at stock height with OEM springs. The twisties are really fun however, and the car is very responsive when I push it. Add Full length subframes, and I couldn't ask more for an entry level kit. Before the KYBs the OEM stuff was not very reassuring. At least with the Cheapo KYB stuff the car stays where it needs to be. Speed bumps are back breaking even at 0 mph.

I should have just bought Bilsteins. :(
