351 Engine Question

I know there are alot of questions on here about 351's but didn't find any that helped me much. I want to eventually either turn my car into a 331 or 347 stroker, or swap a 351 into it. Someone local to me is selling a complete 351 engine out of a 2 wheel drive 1996 f-150 that has 45xxx miles on it for $500. I don't know any details other that that as I havn't contacted the person yet. Did these f-150's come with the 351w or 351c ? I don't have the money to build it up yet, but is this a good deal and a good starting point for a 351 swap? Thanks.

if it's a 351, it would be a 351W, and it would also most likely have a hydraulic roller cam, which is good because if you want to use a HR cam on an older block, you need special lifters that cost about 2x what regualr HR lifters cost.

Thanks for the replies, I know it might cost a bit more to get it to fit and a 347 would be just as fast, but i like the added strength of the 351 block over a 302. I'm not looking for crazy power, but I would like to be able to have a h/c/i combo with nitrous or supercharger and not have to worry about the block failing every time i get on it.

351W WILL be slower than a 347.

But you probably will not go faster with a 347 naturally aspirated as you would with that 351 stroked to 393+ cubic inches. Nagash, where you been??

Given proper parts, of course! But why stop at 393 when for the same price you could have a 408 or 418?

Ive been at school!!!!!! Trying to get out the place by December!
