Ha ha ha....man..I love the torque of a V8.

One of my brother's good friends is in your boat too. He's got a '01 auto GT vert that he absolutely loves. That thing is his baby and I'm sure he's heard it all before too, about how he needs to get into the imports. But he's got the Stang for what seems to be the same reason you do, power and sound. It's all about what a particular person likes. You guys like Mustangs and are Asian.... so what. As long as you respect the other stuff out there, no one will have a problem with you or what you drive or are into. Plain and simple.

Sorry got a little carried away......lol. Drive what you want because it's what you want to drive.

It's funny everyone who doesn't know me thinks I drive a import just because I'm Asian but when I go to give them a ride and walk up to my mustang, the look on their face is just priceless. "What? You drive a mustang?"............."Yup, now get in and shut up.":D

Outrun ugly? I was planning on just getting outta the car and beating the snot outta ugly and his 2.5 cylinders :Zip2:

Still have to respect, what appears to be, a superior preforming car :nonono: .

STI's may be ugly, but if you dont have F/I, and you come across one thats even slightly modded, you will get humbled very quickly, even if you have the normal bolt-on's..I barely pulled on one that was modded at the same shop I use, and I didnt pull on it until 110 mph or so..Ugly but very fast when modded

No doubt the the STI is a great car, built by people who knew what they were doing. The looks though, I thought they went too main stream with the new model. I was disappointed. Now the Evo, don't even get me started:nonono:

I couldn't stand the look of the previous Generation STIS. It’s like they came pre riced from Subaru. I actually think the new ones look 100% better then the last generation. They are fast cars but I still would never drive one.

You guys are comparing the top of the line tuned model from subaru to the base gt mustang from ford, even the shelby being what it is is still just a gt with an intake and exhuast (no disrespect to you shelby owners). To make it fair compare subarus high performance sti to fords high performance mustang ie; roush, steeda (since svt is no longer around) and suddenly the sti becomes an impreza again. sure the stangs cost a few grand more but you get what you pay for. Same goes for the evo..now correct me if im wrong but isnt this new gen evo slower than the previous? it looks like a fish eating another fish its flat out ugly! A salesman at the local mitsu dealer claimed the new evo is a 200mph car and no stang on earth can touch it lol its mind boggling how some "salesman" are even hired...

One huge benefit of the Shelby (and the Mustang GT for that matter) over the STI or EVO that hasn't been mentioned is this: in the Mustang, quick acceleration runs are repeatable and not *that* hard on the car. Hitting the numbers in the AWD turbo's involves a driveline punishing clutch drop...do it 20 times and the clutch will be done. A more realistic "everyday" accel number is the running 5-60mph test that Car & Driver performs:

2008 STI:
0-60 5.0
5-60 6.8

2008 Evo:
0-60 4.6
5-60 6.1

(I'd insert the Mustangs numbers but the C&D site keeps crashing. I beleive it's something like:
0-60 5.2
5-60 5.6)

Coming from driving a WRX for six years, the WRX & STi are much more setup to handle well from the factory. They also have stiffer suspensions. After driving the mustang for a week, I'd get into the WRX and bounce all over the place. The STi is worse. On the track, yes the STI is much better prepared.

Realistically a better comparison is the WRX to a GT. The WRX will handle better, the GT will outrun it. the suspensions are close, but the Mustang is a bit smoother. For most people, that smoother suspension is better. For the rest, it is easily upgraded.
