OK, I admit it, I've admired the Saleen Mustangs for a long time; but never have done a lot of research as I always thought they were WAY out of my league.
However, I know have the funds and opportunity to purchase a new 2007 S281 3V with 678 miles. It was in a dealership that went under and the car was purchased by another Ford dealer.
It is a white convertible with a window sticker retail of $55K and on sale for $37,500, serial number 07-0022. From what I have seen (ebay and online ads) that is a heck of a deal. I'm looking to some of you Saleen veterans to tell me I'd be a fool to pass this up.
Also, is there anywhere online to look up the production numbers of the Mustangs by year, are low serial numbers more desirable than higher (if 22 is even a low number), etc? I've looked up the obvious places and Googled, but I must be looking in the wrongs places.
Any advice, direction you could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If you like it, buy it. I personally am not a fan of the newer Saleens. I like the Fox bodys.

I think the production numbers on the newer Saleens is way too high and there are other tuners out there with better performance. Besides, too many tuners, high production numbers etc.. make owning a newer Mustang, IMO, just another Mustang owner. There is just nothing special about it!

Just my opinion. No offense intended.

Besides, Steve is not even part of the company anymore! At least in an ownership capacity.

Thanks for the replies, and no offense taken, of course. Like I said, I'm totally new to this and am open to all opinions. And actually, this thread is closed as far as I'm concerned; just bought an 07 Shelby hard top with 60 miles out of the dealer showroom for $37K.

Must have been a regular Shelby, and not a GT500. I would have choosen the SC Saleen.

saleen

both are nice cars Good luck it looks like you made a great purchase I don't think the low serial number will make a difference too many cars produced too be really collectible

I shopped for a new car for about a year, ordered a GT500, changed my mind, tried a 427R, didn't like the body. I have always wanted a Saleen and an 07 SC coupe with all of the options came up and bought it.

If anyone else is considering one, get in touch with Saleen, they are extremely helpful in finding out info and history of the car if you ask nicely. I was a pita, looked at 12 or 15 cars, and they were still more than willing to help.

Enjoy your Shelby Great car as well
