My friend just bought an 85 GT Carb'd T top a couple days ago and has been driving it around but last night he was driving and the car just died on him. I don't know exact details because he called me at 2 in the morning to tell me about it. I do remember someone mentioned the alternator. I am thinking it has to be something simple because it has been running great the last few days. The only thing we noticed was that the car would crank over slowly occasionally and yesterday before this broke down he even asked if it was something to do with the battery, and then this happens? Do you guys have any idea. It sounds like an alternator problem to me but I don't know for sure.

This is what you need to do... Charge the battery and start the car. If you have a voltmeter you can test the battery terminals to see if the are losing juice (do to the alternator draining it). If the alternator is good, your battery will consistently have 12 volts. If the battery is being drained, that means that the alternator is dead. If you try to jump it and it doesn't start, then it could also possibly be the starter solenoid.
