I never was into cars much. As i was younger my dad was a race car driver, first hobby stock style and later IMCA modified, so in my yonger days i had an overdose of race cars and race tracks and helping my dad with this and that

I remember everytime he started that imca modified it was so loud i could hardly handle listening to it, my first car was a 1978.5 thunderbird with a 7.3 liter motor, it was rusty and when you stepped it down it either killed or took off like a bat out of hell, it was such a huge boat i hated driving it and being seen in it, i just really hated driving period, well anyway my next car was a pontiac 6000 LE and i was getting into car stereos, huge stereos , i boguht a 96 ford escort hatch and put a loud system in it, 4500 watts rms on a 15 inch digital design subwoofer, i ended up bein state champion in 2006 for dbdrag bassrace.to costly of a hobby so i got out of it sold the system for around 900

next was a 92 nissan 240sx, i loved the car it was a 5 speed and fun as hell to drive I had ideas with turbos and body kits and rims, anyway that was shortlived i smashed up the front fender and information i had searched for on it was that turbos were very expensive and to make the car go fast it would cost alot, escort tranny blew out and i needed something else so next was a 92 olds bravada which i drove for a month broke the flexplate and had that fixed for 600 bucks, well a week later i was t boned on december 23rd of 2007, totalled my bravada it was his fault, i called michael hupy(accident lawyer) and he got me the money i deserved, so now it was time for a new ride

I first looked for an suv and then another mint 240sx or 300zx or early rx7,then i seen some mustangs on craigslist and thought man those are rippers i want one, so i started looking around for 1, it was ahrd to find one decent i posted some looking for ads on a mustang classfied site looking for 5 speed 5.0 no rust $4000-$5000 ( cant even remeber which site) cpl days later i got a message about a 5 speed 1984 svo mustang with a 1992 5.0 EFI motor in it

I was hooked i had to go see this car so me and my buddy drove 2 hours to go check it out it was a crappy day mid february in 2008 we got to the spot. i seen the car right away and me and my buddy agreed it was BADA$$, we checked it over and the owner took us for a ride which was very scary cuz it was crappy and wet out and he was a maniac going 90 in the suburbs, next i drove it and after thinking about it a while i decided to buy it, i paid 4500 for the car and we left quickly cuz a large snowstorm was on the way.

found out a cpl days later there was a problem with 2nd gear engagement so i had the trans rebuilt for 1600( the guy who sold it to me stiffed me a bit there!)

fast forward to today, currently the car is in the body shop getting a good repaint (2000$) heres some pics that the guy sent me in the message before i went to look at it, i will get more after the repaint

future plans include a loud stereo, rims and tires and eventually a 351

Let me start in the beginning.... Back in 2004, someone plowed into my 95 Jetta & totaled it. I decided I needed something with more balls, so I picked up a black 96 GT. I instantly fell in love with stangs...

When I bought the 96, I knew nothing about mustangs, all I knew is it was a GT. After a while, I started learning that 96 GT's were very slow, & I got tired of the automatic. I then sold it & picked up a Rio Red 97 Cobra....

I loved the Cobra, but it was giving me a few issues. I had it at the Ford dealer for a while getting some warranty work done. That was when I spotted a nice Torch red 03 Mach 1 that someone traded in for an 05 GT:shrug: I decided to take it for a test drive. I liked it so much I bought it that day.... I sold the Cobra a few weeks later, after stripping all the good stuff I could swap over to the Mach 1....

Although I loved driving the Mach, I didnt want to abuse it as a DD, so I picked up an 86 Jetta. That got boring after a while, so I seeked out another stang for a DD. I really wanted a fox body, but since they were so expensive at the time, & they don't make good DD's in california since they get stolen so often, I picked up a nice Canary Yellow 95 GT with only 79k on the clock..

I absolutely loved the 95, & it was my 1st 5.0 car, but I still yearned for a fox body. Well I lucked out & found a local guy that had a notchback that he wanted to trade for a 94-98 GT. We struck a deal, & now I have my Oxford white LX notch....

I guess my Fox obsession began when I was about 8 years old. There was a guy that lived down the road from me that bought a brand new 89 GT and everytime he would come home or leave I would run to the edge of the yard just to listen to the 5oh rumble! He took me for a ride in that car because knew I loved it and I just knew I was gonna get one when I was old enough to drive. Well, close to 20 years later I finally get one and the mods keep coming! 331 kit is next on my list!! You know I would like to thank him for that ride! How many 20 year old guys would do that? Kinda cool when I look back!

Mine started with the love affair I had with my 69 GTO, and my need to replace it. I though my built 80 Z28 would cure it until I ran across a new 87 Mustang GT, white, didn't even have plates on it yet. I know it didn't have plates cuz I got a real nice view of its back end as it drove off from me, the stoplight of 154th/Cottage Grove. Next day I was in the showroom for brochure, and on Halloween of 87, ordered my first Regatta Blue LX Hatch. $11,080. It arrived Dec 23. 5 speed, premium sound, pwr windows& locks, air, 3.08 gears, you know. My best Christmas ever. By the next summer I had raided the Ford Motorsport catalog, and was making regular payments from donations on South Chicago Ave, Doty Road, Cline Ave. I also obtained a whole new family of guys that, like the 88 LX in my garage, I still have today. I've been through several 5.0's since, a couple lifetimes and a thousand memories, and the LX I have now is the nearest thing to my first as I could get-pics are in my album. This 88 was supposed to be for parts for the one I had, but when I got it home, I fell in love. And it was only $300.

Back in 1998, I was in the Army at Fort Carson in Colorado. I was driving a 1990 Ford Escort GT. It was modified and fairly quick, but didn't have any top end. topped out around 120 or so. I re-enlisted to go to Germany for 3 years, and wanted something better. I have been a Ford guy my whole life and have wanted a 5.0 Mustang since I was a kid. I just happened to have a buddy who was a salesmen at a local dealer. I put the word out to him what I wanted. After a few weeks, he called and said someone just traded in a 1990 Mustang GT at their other site. I said I'll be there at lunchtime. I showed up and test drove it and said start the papers. I picked it up after work and have been driving it ever since. When I bought it, it had 88,000 mile on it. It now is getting ready to roll over 200,000 miles :nice:

I'll try to make this short...:D

I grew up in a ford family. Brain washed from day one. Dad had (still has) an 89GT and a 1977 Ford of Germany Mercury Capri.

First car was a hand me down 83 T-bird. When I turn 17, my dad traded my grandfather for this:

IMG_0324_2.jpg

It was bought used by my mom's parents in 69. It was then given to my mom when she went to college. My parents met and married. After a few years, my dad sold it to his dad with first buy back rights. Then when I was 17, my dad traded for the 83 T-Bird and it was mine!!!

It was my daily driver until I was 21. Making round trips to college (350 miles) with no A/C, no overdrive, getting 12 mpg in the Alabama heat started to wear on me. Plus, this is not exactly a safe car for interstate driving.

I had always wanted a fox for the creature comforts: A/C, overdrive, EFI, etc. So, after I had save up enough money to buy a car and keep the 67, I picked up an 89 lx hatch. It was a one owner car driven by a little old lady...seriously. It had 49k, was garage kept, and was spotless. I purchased it for $6500. I don't have an original picture available now (at work). But it was bone stock down to the air silencer, paper filter, 10 hole wheels, and working ashtray door!!

After college and getting a job, I put way too much money into it and this is what it looks like today.

IMG_0490.jpg

IMG_0491.jpg

It's still my daily driver and knocks down 23 mpg. The stock bottom end has 166,000 and is starting to burn some oil and has some serious blow by (enough to pop the dipstick out a few inches).

Next step, 347 with AFR 185's... :rock::rock:

Mine 5.0 is a hand-me-down/trade kinda thing. When I started driving I had bought a 1990 F-150, drove it untill my 12th grade year. After much pestering and begging I finally talked my dad into trading me my truck for his 1991 wild strawberry automatic notchback. I lusted over that car ever since he bought it used in 1993, by the time i got it she was goin down fast and it was breakin my heart to see the once red bumpers as a shade of pink :rlaugh:, and the stock mufflers to still be on it. So at the time I was in a collision repair class, and seniors got to bring their cars in and work on them, needless to say within the first month of getting the car she was in the paint booth:nice: and came out sporting white stripes against that beautiful strawberry red. Then the motor was gettin kinda tired so for my early graduation present my parents got my motor rebuilt with forged internals and a new cam :). But since ive added more stuff of course. This car is my pride and joy i can stand before anyone and say i will never sell her. Got alot of memories, time, money and sentimental value in her, after my daddy died she became my tribute to him.

Some awesome stories in here! Keep them coming for sure!!

The story of my current stang is kinda interesting. I was venting in a thread about how I wanted another stang. Something that was a project that I could work on..

Que PM from 25thmustang on how his father had a 92 4banger hatch automatic with no engine or trans..

600 bucks (plus cost of transport, his dad personally transported it from CT to NJ for me) and it was in my driveway...

Check link in my sig for what transpired shortly there after :D

Hi.
My first Mustang was a 79 when I got my license. I did not keep it long because of always getting stuck somewhere. :( My husband found 92 LX Hatch for my birthday about seven years ago, but after I had my first child figured out you can't get an infant car seat to fit in the back very well, so sold it on. This Christmas though he found me a 90 5.0 car. He did all the work on it over the year completely without me knowing. When I was going to the Christmas party actually saw it sitting in a parking lot a few blocks down and commented to myself on how good that Mustang looked and how I wouldn't mind having one again. :D

Well, when I was 8 my dad started looking for a convertible. Not a mustang. But he found a mustang convertible. I fell in love the first ride. It is a 1990 7-UP, 5 speed. That is now stroked and supercharged. Then my uncle bought an 03' Cobra and had to leave it with us while he was in Iraq for a year. (hook line and sinker!!!) He came back a year later and had to buy new tires.

Then my cousin bought a 5.0 and a 4-cylinder notch that was in great condition. Well he wrecked the 5.0 and wanted a nother one. So he did a converstion and couldn't afford it. I picked up a stock 87' Notch with a 5.0 for $3,000! And I have had that for almost two years now and love it. THe car is in great shape!

Some sweet stories here!
I bought my 1987 GT T-top when i was 15 and took my time over a period of three years to rebuild it. I saved its life. Being a t-top all the floors were completely rotted out, body rust everywhere. I fixed all those problems, rebuilt the motor with a few mods, new interior, and finally painted it. Been driving it for 2 years now.
Future plans..mod-swap:D

Back in 2000 I made a friend that had a sick 93 Cobra. It was the best sounding and fastest car I had ever been in. I eventually found a 94GT and bought it up. Bolted on some parts and then he sold the 93 cobra to me, which was a stolen recovery with VIN changed. So I had 2 of them. Well the Cobra was rusting out so I pulled the motor and Tremec out of it, swapped into my car and drove it maybe 3 times on the track, had lots of problems going from the carb setup to the EFI on the 94 and ended up selling a car for way to little.
Jump ahead 7 years to 2009 and Im back fully involved in a hunt for one. Ofcourse Im married and have a baby now, but my wife is very cool about it. So I try Ebay and keep getting out bid at the last moment. I found an 88gt on craigslist in Pensacola, FL and looked at it. It was in horrible shape, Timing all messed up, hatch rattling, ugly rims, nothing good but an unmolested 5.0L and a new T5 in it. I talk the guy down on price and bought it the next weekend. Ive fixxed alot of stuff so far and plan on converting to MAF soon as the parts come in.

The pics are the old 94gt and the former Cobra. I traded for some cash and the GT ground effects so it doesnt even resemble a cobra in the crappy pic. Sorry but those are some of the last pics I have.
