Vortech Aftercooler or CXRacing FMIC

Guys what should i get for my DD. I could get an after cooler for about $900 or the CXRacing inter cooler from ebay for about $300 plus getting a new BOV and a few other things. I would go for the FMIC but i don't wanna cut my bumper support. I thought I saw a guy do the inter cooler setup and not have to cut the bumper support but i am not sure. If i can do the FMIC for about $500 I will do it. let me know what you guys think.

Which setup is on your s trim dbm? I just purchased a new v1 s-trim kit for $1500 :D though have already started looking at my options on the cooler as well. I was thinking about going with the front mount just because of the price.

The front mount will be more efficient in normal driving, but the vortech can be loaded with icewater for sub-ambient inlet temps. Just depends on what you want to do. If you will spend a lot of time at the track and want every .01 in her, then get the vortech and have fun filling it with ice water. If you just want to drive the car and have the best efficiency in normal driving on the street, then the front mount is the way to go. A good front mount should put your inlet temps within 10* of ambient.
Or, if you really want to get serious... some people that run huge boost numbers will run both. First, the front mount can drop the temperatures to ambient very effectively and then you can get seriously sub ambient temperatures after the air/ice water intercooler. :D

Ive got the V-2 unit. Ford racing 42lb injectors, lightning 90 MAF, SVT focus fuel pump, 3.60 pulley and all the other stock vortech parts. Im probably gonna go with the FMIC then but i want one that will fit behind my bumper support because i don't want to cut it and sacrifice the rigidity of the car. Ive seen people do it before. I would probably go with a cxracing intercooler and maybe get procharger piping to do it. please let me know if anyone knows about fitting the intercooler behind the bumper support. Also do you guys think i can get away with just using my stock bosch by pass valve for now with the FMIC?

thanks,
Sean

i too got my kit for $1500, but several years ago. it was a V1, but i swapped to a V2 because the V1 was just too loud for my taste. i do not have a cooler as of right now. but at some point in the future, i will be getting a fmic. with 94 octane at $4.60 a gallon last year, i didn't mess with the car. the year before that, i bought a motorcycle.

check out my thread on modularfords.com, you can find it in the supercharger forum. the thread is called fmic 2.0, all your questions are answered there, and there is plenty of pics posted i took during my build.

i just installed a big front mount intercooler on my car and didnt cut the bumper support. all you need to do is measure the room you have behind it and get one that big. the one i have fits perfect between bumper and radiator and bothside posts. eventually i will get around to posting pics

FMIC, i know with the aftercoolers 450-500ish hp is about hte most they can handle. If you get an FMIC you can always easily upgrade to a bigger intercooler to handle more boost for a lot cheaper than buying a whole new aftercooler...
