Hello all. This is my first post and I would like to introduce myself. I'm on my 3rd Stick shift GT mustang and I want some answers from the men that know.

I've built a 5.0 with complete bolt ons just checky my sig for info if you like. Great car, made great power. 297 RWHP.

I bought an 07 Roush stage one a few months ago and for the most part intend on keeping it stock because I'm just not going to rip this beauty apart like I did with my 95.

But I want to know a few questions about basic bolt ons for these cars.

1. Pulleys. - They made a difference on my 95. Are they worth it for these newer models?

2. CAI and a Chip. Yes I'm sure that you've gone over this a million times but I want to know if I can just get a K&N drop in filter and keep the stock setup and still use a decent CPU chip. I want my car to look stock. I dont want that giant cone sticking out in my engine. I used to think that was cool....but now not so much. They just get ugly looking and suck up the hot air on hot days.

3. Are there any other simple bolt ons that really make a difference?

Thanks again guys. I really appreciate any input.

For a Roush, a CAI and pulley swap are the easiest and most bang for the buck. The pulley's I'm talking about are for Roushcharged systems. Don't know what a pulley upgrade would do to a non-charged motor. They will however void the warranty. If that doesn't mean anything to you, go for it!! An extreme or off-road exhaust is another option.

Good luck and post pics of your ride!!

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

My car is not supercharged. God knows I wish it was but its not. I can't tell if it has the factory exhaust or the Roush exhaust. I'm going to change the oil with synthetic and drop in a K&N filter tomorrow. I will check out the exhaust system then.

I don't want to void the warranty so the Pulleys will have to wait. I also refuse to blow 600 bucks or so for only 15 hp. Whats the point? I'd rather just save up and get a supercharger later. 15 hp is barely noticeable.

My car looks exactly like this one:

Check out my signature, all those bolt ons made a big difference on my car.

Tommy you've got a GREAT time there for a few bolt ons. You must have been on slicks or good drag radials. I used to have drag radials on my 95.

Forgive my ingorance but what is this?: "CMCV delete plates" is that deleting your cats? If so I can't do that here in Cali. Smog NAZI'S here are horrible.

And if you deleted your cats how'd you get past the CPU? OBD 2 was easier but the new system is a BITCH.

Can anyone reccomend a 91 octane chip? Send me a link? I'd appreciate it. I just want to run a chip and drop in K&N.

Thanks!

Bamachips.com, I have their 88,91,93 race tunes. Currently im using the 91 and it made a night and day difference on my car. BAMA FTW!

Our cars have motorized butterfly valves at the end of the intake runners. They are supposed to help the low end power but with a good tuner and the delete plates to get rid of the valves the low end power stays about the same but you gain a bunch in the upper RPM range since the valves aren't there to block some of the air flow. Hope that made sense.

Is Brenspeed better than Bama? And i'm not getting an CAI kit. I've had several cars with those things and they really don't help. On hot days they actually rob hp. Im going to use a K&N drop in. I like the factory look too. Those filters get ugly real quick.

Steel Horse I totally understand and thanks for letting me know. Those valves create low end torque more than likely.

UD Pullies are actually good for about 10rwhp and tq and only cost around $200. Most dealers wont void your warranty if put them on. And yes a drop in filter and flash tuner will still wonders for your car. Most people here suggest getting tunes from Bamachips or Brenspeed. I would also reccommend an Aluminum Driveshaft. It alone can shave 2/10ths off your quater mile time. Also, some shorter 4.10 gears would be very beneficial.

How are these butterfly valves removed?

You have to pull the intake manifold off to get to them. The valves are located in a block that sits between the head and intake. Steeda and some other comapnies make direct replacements that have no valves. I've heard of some people removing the valves (not sure how though) and putting them back on.

Well I just changed the oil with synthetic and dropped in the K&N. And I finally examined the exhaust system. Its a Flowmaster exhaust. The car literally sounds perfect.

Im going to have to look into a chip and pulleys now.

Anyone know a shop in Orange County CA that does the pulley swaps?
