roller motor questions.

I have a motor out of my 83 mustang,. What do I need to do to make it work in my 65?
Do all I need to do is swap the carb stuff, distributer, headers, and oil pan?
Will the 65 distributer work in the motor?
Will I need to put a different oil pump in?

I have the 289 in mine. It is pretty warn out. Am I better off just rebuilding the 289 or putting the 5.0 in?

I am guessing it is pretty complicated to make it fuel injected?

I hate to tell you this, but unless you swapped out the engine in your '83 with an '85-up 5.0L HO, I'm nearly positive its not a roller engine either?
If you're trying to keep the car as close to original as possible, I'd probably just look into rebuilding your 289. If performance is all you're after, the sky is pretty much the limit.

...and yes, fuel injection is going to be complicated and more costly at this point. Especially for a novice.

Well, the 83 302 was kinda lame even compared to the 65 289, I'd agree with 101, rebuilding the 289 is a better bet. Even in the 60's, it wa possible to get over 300hp out of a 289.

the 83 5.0 isnt any better than you 289 except the heads have hardend seats. Its not a roller motor, do yourself a favor and find a 87 up complete 5.0 roller HO. Use the 289 oil pan,pump,pickup, i carbed intake, if you want to use the 289 accesories get a 50oz conversion balancer and an 85 roller dist or your 289 one with a steel gear, get a 50oz flexplate or flywheel to match your trans.
 
Ahh, well in that case yes...by all means swap your Cobra engine into it. It might even be worth it to try to retro convert an EFI set up to the car then (just to see that sexy Cobra upper intake staring back at you when you pop the hood if nothing else). You're best bet for doing so would be tracking down a wrecked donor car...and If you've got the engine from your '93, I'm guessing you've got the rest of the car as well. That is assuming the car is a wreck?

Otherwise, pick yourself up a nice performer intake and 600cfm carb and go to town with the carb conversion. :shrug:
 
93 Cobra 5.0 to a 65--------------you'll need to swap oilpan and pickup tube, plus the front accessory drive, if you're going to run the mech fuel pump. This includes the timing cover, and fuel pump eccentric, you may have to swap to a thinner eccentric for the fuel pump to run with the 93's timing set and 65 timing cover. You'll also need to fit the 65's distributor with a steel cam gear to match the 5.0's steel roller cam. As for intake, don't throttle it back with a Performer intake, go for a Performer RPM, or Airgap RPM, or the older F4B. Other great intakes are Ford's A321, C9OX, or Shelby's Cobra high rise plus Weiand's Stealth. If you have a manual transmission, you'll also need a bracket to adapt the clutch Z bar to the 93 block

I am gonna look into the fue inj.swap. I just finished a 2.3 to 5.0 swap.ButI am sure this is a lil more complex.
I have the auto trans. Gonna keep her auto since this is the "wifes" car.
Just started stripping this car down. It has a good amount of body rust. frame is good.
