Well since i've been driving the car now my turn signals dont work. The hazards flash and make the click sound, but either way i turn on the turn signals ,neither direction works. I looked at the switch today and everything is hooked up and nothing is loose and all the other functions of the multi function switch works. I did notice today tho, that with the key out of the ignition i can turn on the hazards and when i turn the left or right turn signal on the hazards stop and only the left signal blinks. But as soon as i turn the turn signal off the hazards work,OR if i turn off the hazards off they stop.If the turn signal part of the multi function switch is messed up would it cause the turn signals not to work and to make them do what they are doing with the hazards on?My girlfriends 2000 expi does the same thing with the hazards on with the key off when you turn on the left or right turn signal, but her turn signals work fine as do her 4ways.But my 92 coupe dosent do this. Whats got me and i think is weird is my 89 and my girl friend expi does this with the key out of the ignition, but my coupe dont. peace

I went out just now and took the bulb out of the socket and put the test light on them. With the hazards on i get a blinking (as i figured) from the test light. But with the hazards off and blinker on nothing. Anyone got any ideas? Any scamatics for trouble shooting? peace

Good point there ID89GT,cause if i remember right the turn signals also plug into the hazard switch right?I went out and replaced the flasher unit for the turn signals and that still didnt fix it.I'll go out and check to make sure both connectors are plugged into the back of the hazard switch.I read a few other peoples post about this problem, and have notice some say to check the ignition switch? But most of them say this only if the HVAC motor dosent blow as well as the signals.Since my HVAC blower works is the ignition switch still a concern? If both harness's are plugged into the back of the hazard switch my next thing is the multifunction switch :( peace

SWEET! :D went out and checked what you said about making sure the harness's were connected to the back of the hazard switch ID89GT.And well 2 of the wires on the big connecter wasent plugged into the connector, they got pulled out of the connector when the dash swap was done.I plugged them in and everything is good!I read your post in here and after you said that i remembered that you need both connector's plugged into the hazard switch, cause me and a buddy did a florida 5.0 cluster swap and we werent sure we needed both those connectors plugged in. peace

haha glad it worked for you. Every time my blinkers stop working that is the first thing I check since it is such a problem. That hazard connector is 20 years old so the plastic don't hold the wires in as good as they used to lol

Yep i've ran across 3 connectors like that. I'm either gonna hot glue them into the connectors,or i'll look for a whole new harness for the dash? If i get a new harness it will be brand new (if someone sellls them) and it will be way later down the road. Incase i didnt thanks for the recomendation on checking that out!I totally spaced checking that.peace

No point in buying a whole new harness. All you need is a new platic connector piece. The early Escorts have them, that is where I got a new one for mine at. Or you can get a brand new one for Ford, but it was like 55 dollars just for the electrical connector at my local dealer..
