Im looking to jump ship from the Mopar world to the Ford side of town and Im looking at getting a 05-09 GT Convertible 5 sp. 1st thing I probably should do is change my login name but is there and pros or cons between model yrs? Should I look at one over the other? Im going to use it as my daily driver for a couple of yrs until I add too many go fast parts and have to make it my toy. And Im trying to figure out the difference between a GT and a CS/GT. Thx

A CS (california special) is just an appearance package(different front/rear fascia hood/side scoops and decals). In 07 the coolant hose configuration changed most prefer the 07 + , also mid 08 the heads changed to accept one-piece spark plugs over the old style two-piece which there are problems with. Also if u want i reccomend a one-touch convertible top module mod i did it to my 07 and love it. Also in 09 the intake manifold changed to incorporate the CMCV (charge motion control valves) into the intake in a one piece design. Most prefer the pre 09 design where the cmcv assembly is seperate( also reccomend doing a cmcv delete plate mod, tune is required though). Hope this gives ya some answers thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

I personally like the GT/CS's front and rear bumper covers. They come with the 18" polished bullit style wheels. The front seats also have different colored inserts. I'm not for the side scoops tho, but to each his own - It all depends on the difference in pricing between the two trim levels - is the "appearance" pkg of the GT/CS worth the xtra bux. GL meng

I'm pretty happy with my '05. Relative to the '01 GT 'vert I had before, there are a few things I'm not crazy about, but they're fairly minor...

First, am not crazy about the drive-by-wire throttle... feel too disconnected from the engine & usually over-rev on takeoff. Second, the use of plastic/composite materials in the top mechanism generates a few rattles on rough pavement, tho most of that is due to the 20" wheels. Third, I also am dealing with parasitic power drain on the battery, as mine sits in the garage quite a bit (3rd car). But none of this really deters my enjoyment of the car...

The top operates the same as stock except for the one touch up and down feature added.
Press and release it once in the down position and it fully lowers
Press and release in the up position and it fully raises.
If u press and hold then release it stops at whatever postion you want to stop it at still just like stock.
Also if u press and release and its moving on its own just press and release again to stop it at whatever position u want.
This really is a must have mod for vert guys def worth $50 bucks!

i would choose a california special over a regular gt anyday personally. in my opinion they're louder & they look better :) just watch out for recalls that came with those body styles. i know one had a seatbelt recall. i work at ford so i get stuff like that in all the time, nothing big but if you don't take care of it in a certain amount of time warranty won't cover it. & why not a hard top ?
