how much hp do u guys think i have with this combo

357w
11:1 compression
trick flow track and heat upper and lower intake
edelbrock performer heads
performer cam
70 mm throttle body
shorty headers
30 lbs injectors

+1, the entire top end of that motor is choking it out terribly, 302 parts on a 351 make 302 power out of a 351

I had damn near the exact combo but in reverse. haha. I had trick flow heads and cam and eddy intake. That combo made 360/395 so yea i guess those 302 parts deffinatly choked me off.

Personally i think thats where alot of people mess up. they slap on the biggest heads and intake they can (even on 302's) and they dont do research first. There is a fine line between good port volume and velocity. You should try to find a good median between the two, but stay a little more on the velocity side.

I understand what you're trying to say, but do you think he could make 360/395 out of the parts he listed with the compression he listed, and with that camshaft? Valvetrain components and how they interact will play a huge role in the power he makes as well. It doesn't sound like his combo was well researched, and he could certainly benefit from a custom camshaft and a better flowing top end with the extra cubic inches he has to work with. Longtubes and a larger throttle body would be nice too, don't you think?

I don't understand how people can drop large sums of money on a combo being unsure of the power it will make. I understand money is an issue, but wasting it on a mismatched/asthmatic combo is unwise. There's never enough money to do it right but there's always enough money to do it twice. :shrug:

Did your combo put down those numbers on a Mustang Dyno or Dynojet? I'm not doubting you at all, FYI, just curious.

oh yea i did have a custom cam. i ditched the TFS1 in favor of a lunatti custom grind. i had crane 1.6 RR's, shortie bbk's, 70mm throttle body and it was dyno jet. jaws racing in tallahassee fl. did the tuning. jawsracing.net

and i belive with longtubes he would do better. and i think his compression is going to help him more than mine did me.

Trick Flow heads are FAR better than Edelbrock performers first of all, and you had a custom cam you say. Are you trying to say those numbers are good for a 351?? A 331 will make those numbers with a bogus combo without breaking a sweat. A 351 with a proper top end will make over 400rwhp piece of cake. This "velocity" bs doesn't work the way you think it does. Choosing small parts only gets you small numbers.

show me anyone on here who is making those numbers so easy with an efi motor. i can think of maybe two people. and of those two people they had pro built motors.
 
to the OP, you are in the same situation as me. My 10.5:1 357 was built in 1995 featuring vindsor jr heads, a B cam, and a GT40 upper and lower (both unported) my motor has 20,000 miles on it now, still runs good, but the potential is much higher now with up to date technology. I am currently piecing together a better top end combo.

EXACTLY. Very few, because everyone on here listens to the bs people post about using bogus parts. It's got nothing to do with a pro building the motor, it's just a little research and listening to the right people.

I'd say 325-350. Couple of suggestions. First and most important, get rid of those shorty's they are choking your car. They are crap, period! First thing I've ever done to my cars even if just to perk them up and not go nuts. Change the gears and spend the money on good quality real full length headers and exhaust. What kind of cam do you have? I would have gotten the R intake, that's what I have on my fastest car
 
Heads

Edelbrock, AFR, Canfield, WP Dart...You can keep em all cuz...... Nothing beats The original Old style TFS High Ports. They started it all and are still the best when ported propely.
Unless your talking 351, nothing beats the canted valve cleavland heads.
