I've drove my 95 gt for a few weeks now and its been making a whining sound in all the gears except for 4th. especially bad in 1st and 2nd. I noticed in my driveway a few little spots where something had been leaking. I first thought oil but it is tranny fluid. So I took it to the shop to change the tranny fluid (hardly any came out maybe a quart) and hoping that would help take the whine out. Well it didn't change it at all. I searched through some threads and this is the closest I could find to my problem http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/793089-help-identifying-drivetrain-noise.html.

Does this sound like a bad bearing to you all?

And I dont know much about trannys but its leaking on the front side facing the engine. Is there a seal I should replace?

It also grinds in the higher RPM's shifting into 2nd. (do I need to get my tranny rebuilt or can one gear be fixed alone?)

Thanks in Advance!

Ya, you probably messed up a couple of bearings in there running it low. You can replace just one synchronizer, but why? If you're already paying someone to take it apart, they might as well refreshen everything.

If you have a noise that is there in all gears except 4th you have a bad input to mainshaft bearing. 4th is 1:1 ratio so when your in that gear input is locked to mainshaft and that bearing is no longer spinning thus no noise. Thats why when you grenade the countershaft you only have 4th because it does use the countershaft. Bad news is your probably due for an overhaul. Good news is if your up for the challenge and have the time and proper tools its not that hard to do. I love the T5 personally.

Found out the problem a few weeks ago ... we took it out and tore it apart and well lets just say ... The input shaft and cluster gear looked like broken razor blades. I didnt snap a pic but I found a similar one on google.

OUCH

My transmission guy told me sumone had it open once upon a time and didnt put it back together correctly, with too much play on the input shaft so it didnt wear on the bearing it wore on the input shaft.

I ordered a new input shaft, cluster gear, and wc rebuild kit from D&D Performance and got them in Friday and i'm going by the shop to drop the parts off monday.

Hopefully she'll b alive again this week!
