Gt to Cobra Swap

I have a 97 Mustang GT Convertible, and my engine gave out on me with piston compressions all over the place. I have found and decided that I want to install a 96 Cobra motor into my car. I know that it will fit, with the factory engine computer and wiring in place, but have not found any information about it being compatible with my automatic transmission. I assume so, since it will be running off of my factory engine computer, will modify my chip and get a tune of course, but I just wanted to make sure that it will actually line up and such. Everything is coming together, and the install seems fairly simple, any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It should bolt up for the most part. You might need to swap flexplates. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in......

trans will work fine.
you seem like you have most of the swap info down.

you may have to use your computer being that you are running an auto. cobras didnt come with an auto, and i THINK the transmission is controlled by the same comp as the engine. you can get your computer flashed to run the 4V

i would look into a 99, 01 cobra engine for some extra power

You're gonna need someone to tune the car. Plus you have to extend a few wires off the wiring harness. Then you will need coolant hoses and throttle cable. Then you need to wire the imrc's open with zip ties or buy some deletes.
