I was lookinginto replacing my cheese graters for some LX tails.. I saw on 50 Resto that they sell both smoked and clear lights also.. I think I may want to go for the smoked (including the 3rd brake light)..

Has anyone used these or have pictures?

Thanks

a friend of mine has DARK smoked lenses on his tails and 3rd brake light. Its a 99.99999% track car though (runs 9s and looks stock on the outside). Point being, they look really good, but if you get rear ended your SOL

i have smoked on mine

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that... lol

That's making me think twice now..
Im not a big fan of the clear LX tails tinted but my advice would be:
get a set of factory LX tails and tint them yourself. You can tint them lightly, theyll look good and still be "legal"

That looks really good. I have seen some really bad applications with night shades etc...especially with the guys who go after the very black look with runs and the ever so popular finger print....don't touch it, it's not dry yet lol

You guys spraying the outside? I have heard some guys spraying the inside which can maintain the glossy look. I believe Nebraska frowns apon tinted lights

those came out really good! is that my easter basket in the background?? :D

Thanks! I think I got some over spray on your basket, sorry!

Thanks, mine dulled out but that was what I was wanting (for now). I put 3 coats to get it that dark. I would like to see ones that are sprayed from the inside, it seems like the red would still show prominent? Sounds like it would look factory though?

VHT is the best route imo but then again I'm not crazy about any non-factory tailights or covers. With Nightshade you have more control over how dark it is and you can better maintain the factory look/colors. I sprayed on the inside, which worked out because I was going for a more subtle tint. I didn't want my brakes lights too dim so I went with a relatively light coat. The red looks deeper and richer but you might not notice the difference unless they're up next to non-tinted lights. Been meaning to do the lights on my '92 but haven't gotten around to it.

i vht tinted my tail lights and painted the back of the liscense plate area black so that it looks like the black part goes all the way across i think it looks really good but i have been pulled over for it before...
